AMERICA ONCE SEIZED PROPERTY WORTH $144MILLION FROM ALLEGED NIGERIAN BIGGEST THIEF,EX MINISTER DIEZANI

The United States government has reportedly seized properties worth $144m from the former minister of petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

According to Daily Post, the US Assistant Attorney-General, Kenneth Blanco, said the funds will be returned.
Speaking on the case, Blanco said "Corrupt foreign officials and business executives should make no mistake: if illicit funds are within the reach of the United States, we will seek to forfeit them and to return them to the victims from whom they were stolen."
The former minister was said to have awarded huge oil contracts to Kola Aluko and Jide Omokore.

In return, Aluko and Omokore bought properties for Alison-Madueke in London and bought $1million worth of furniture and artwork for her in Houston.

Today News also reported that the former minister warned Aluko not to buy a Yacht, saying "I spoke to you several times about your general behavior, acquisition of assets, etc., asking you to be a bit more careful.

"If you want to hire a yacht, you lease it for two weeks or whatever. You don't go and sink funds into it at this time when Nigerian oil and gas sector is under all kinds of watch."
Diezani Alison-Madueke has constantly maintained that she did not steal any money from Nigeria.

Communal clash claims lives in Taraba Several people lost their lives and several houses torched in a renewed violence that broke out, yesterday, in Taraba State. Plane crash. FILE At least four people were killed on Saturday when a propeller-engine cargo plane crashed in the sea near the International Airport in Abidjan, a Reuters witness said. Six others were believed to have been injured in the crash of the Antonov aircraft which police said had 10 people on board. A housewife, Bisola Olukoya, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly killing her 16-year-old son. The Command's Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident to PREMIUM TIMES on Friday said the suspect committed the crime at Onifade-Itele town of the state. "One Mrs Bisola Olukoya of NO 40, Ifelodun Street Onifade Itele has been arrested by the Ogun State Command for beating her 16 years old son Toheeb Olukoya to death," the police spokesperson said. Mr. Oyeyemi said the incident happened on March 17. He said the suspect, while beating the deceased, used a plank to hit him on the head, after which the boy fell down and died.
