ARMY RESCUES SIX HERDSMEN FROM TERRORIST GROUP

The Nigerian Army on Saturday said it has rescued six herdsmen abducted by Boko Haram terrorists at Kamuya community in Yobe State.

The Army made this known in a statement by Brig. Gen. Sani Kukasheka.

He said that the rescued herdsmen were re-united with their families.

Kukasheka said that the troops had killed two insurgents and recovered ammunition after a gun duel with the insurgents.

He said: "On Friday 8th September 2017, at about 7.30 a.m. troops of Defence Company, 27 Brigade Nigerian Army, on Operation LAFIYA DOLE deployed at Kamuya, Yobe State, received report from some herdsmen that suspected Boko Haram terrorists abducted six persons from their village,which has left me baffled with so many reports of herdsmen affiliation to the terrorist group and many innocent killings perpetrated by these herdsmen nationwide.

"The troops in conjunction with local vigilante familiar with the area trailed the terrorists up to Mangari village about 20 kilometres away from Kamuya.

"The troops exchanged fire with the insurgents, neutralized two of them and rescued the abducted persons. The troops also recovered two AK-47 rifles. The rescued persons have been reunited with their family."

Six dead, tens injured in DEADLY highway crash  has claimed six -The accident involved a saloon car and a bus -Five of the deceased were from the saloon car Six people lost their lives early on Sunday morning after deadly accident involving a saloon car and a bus along the Londiani-Muhoroni-Kisumu Highway . The meeting of the Federal Executive Council that holds every Wednesday did not hold yesterday. Yesterday would have afforded President Muhammadu Buhari who returned to the country on Saturday the opportunity of presiding over the council meeting for the first time in over three months. Jamie Harron, 27, has been sentenced to three months in jail in Dubai for touching a man's hip as he carried a drink through a crowded bar. He was arrested for public indecency at the Rock Bottom bar on 15 July. The electrician, from Stirling, claimed he was simply trying to avoid spilling his drink when he touched the man. It was thought the case against Harron might have been dropped after reports that the businessman he touched had withdrawn his complaint. But on Sunday the campaign group Detained in Dubai, which has been supporting Harron, said he had been sentenced to three months in jail for public indecency. The group said he would appeal against the jail term but he faced further court proceedings for drinking alcohol and for allegedly swearing at the businessman he touched.
