RAILA ODINGA ASKS PEOPLE TO BOYCOTT ELECTIONS,NASA TO BE CHANGED INTO RESISTANCE MOVEMENT
- The National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has announced plans to turn the alliance into a resistance movement
- The Opposition leader's surprising announcement comes just hours ahead of the October 26 repeat election
- He also asked his supporters not to participate in the poll urging them to stay away from polling stations
The National Super Alliance(NASA)leader Raila Odinga now says he will transform the coalition into a resistance movement.
He also said he will mobilise his supporters to use civil defiance and boycott commodities of government allied companies.
"When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty. When there is no justice for the people, there will be no peace for government…National Super Alliance(NASA) will change from tomorrow to National Resistance Movement..we will use civil power to defend our constitution," he told his supporters during a rally at Uhuru Park, Nairobi,Wednesday,October 25.
The NASA leader also told his supporters not to participate in the Thursday, October 26 repeat presidential election in any way and to stay away from polling stations.
He told them to deny the "bloodthirsty regime" the chance to "massacre people" by staying at home and not to participate in demonstrations during the election day as he had earlier directed.
"Tomorrow do not participate in any way in the sham election.Hold vigilance prayers away from polling stations or just stay at home," he added in the much anticipated announcement.
He also declared he would not respect any order from President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto any County Commissioner or from Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi.
"We shall mobilise all progressive forces to ensure that a fresh, free and fair election is held within 90 days," Raila added.
He spoke even as the IEBC said it was all systems go ahead of the repeat election which has been rocked with controversy.
