The Senator Representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Dino Melaye has stated that it is totally unacceptable for someone above 70 years to be in leadership position.
President Muhammadu Buhari is 74 years old.
According to him, 2019 should be the time for the youths to chase out those he labeled as “old cargoes” from power.
Addressing the youths, weekend, in Abuja at a dinner and lecture organised by the Nigerian Youths Parliament, the senator added that youths constituted over 60 percent of the electorates, which he said can be used by them to determine who emerges as leader in the country at whatever level.
Melaye said if the youths must weed out the old politicians successfully, it has become imperative for them to come out and participate fully in politics and take their rightful positions up to the leadership level.
“You must picture the future you want to feature in. You need to develop your capacity.
“There is no way someone in his 70s can still be in a leadership position in the Nigerian polity if you the youths are effectively involved and in charge,” he told them.

Egypt on Thursday blocked 21 websites, including Qatari news network Al Jazeera and Islamist-affiliated platforms, following in the footsteps of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Among those blocked since Wednesday evening is the website of the now-banned Muslim Brotherhood, Ikhwan Online, according to a report in the privately owned Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper. All websites blocked contain material that “support terrorism and extremism as well as publish lies,” a security source was quoted as saying. The Arabic edition of the Huffington Post was blocked, although the English-language version was accessible. The independent Cairo-based Mada Masr was another site blocked. Officers were called to Holmes Park Elementary School on Monday after a teacher found Megan Sloan's Facebook page open on a computer, according to KOKI-TV. Authorities say the page featured a conversation where Sloan reportedly asked about using and selling heroin. Detectives told KOKI that during the investigation, Sloan allegedly admitted to pawning two iPads that belonged to the school district.
