Two armed robbers were reportedly shot dead in a gun battle with the Kano State Police command and gang of robbers who shot a Police Patrol vehicle along Kano/Zaria road at a point close to Garun Mallam Village arrested. This was revealed in a statement signed by the command 's spokesperson , DSP . Magaji Musa Majia . According to him , the superior response officers attached to the Patrol van gunned down the robbers and sent the rest running. He further stated that one locally made AK 47 rifle , 1 revolver pistol, 12 live ammunition , charms and torchlight were recovered. A total of 13 members of the armed robbery gang that specializes in car/motorcycle snatching were also paraded by the police command. POLICE INTERCEPT TWO VEHICLES CARRYING ARMS

The Zamfara State Police Command on Wednesday intercepted two vehicles carrying arms in different parts of the state. The spokesman of the command, Muhammad Shehu, confirmed the development in Gusau. He told the News Agency of Nigeria that items recovered from the vehicles were three AK47 riffles, an automatic pistol, locally-made pistol, magazines and live ammunitions. According to him, other items recovered include N103, 435 cash, ATM card, three voters’ cards, military camouflage and a stamp of the Cattle Traders Association of Nigeria in the Bukuru Local Government Area of Plateau. Mr. Shehu said that the drivers of the two cars, a Honda Civic marked Sokoto State BDN358AA and another marked Kano State KMC 321AA, were arrested and were now assisting the police in investigations. YAHAYA BELLO Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, is enmeshed in double voter’s registration scandal, after he was pictured in his office registering as a voter the second time, having already registered in Abuja. Bello was shown being registered by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). A group, Kogi For Change, in a statement signed by its chairman, Omeiza Yakubu, said it would take legal action in view of the illegality of Bello’s action. DETECTIVES of Delta State Police Command investigating the September 5 ambush of bank officials and policemen on the Benin-Asaba Expressway by bandits, who carted away N25 million from a bullion van, have apprehended and detained an Inspector and three other policemen, said to be on illegal escort duty. Police Public Relations Officer of Delta Command, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed the arrest and detention of the policemen to Vanguard in Asaba, said Police have released two officials of the bank earlier arrested, while investigations were ongoing. Malaysia's High Court heard this week Kim Jong Nam had 12 doses of atropine in his sling bag when he was allegedly swabbed with VX nerve agent in Kuala Lumpur International Airport on February 13, news agency Bernama said. Defense lawyer Hisyam Abdullah also confirmed the report to CNN. Abdullah said K. Sharmilah, a government toxicologist, told the court Wednesday she examined the drug along with several other samples provided by police. GUNMEN KILL MONARCH IN THE MIDST OF MEETING WITH CHIEFS

Suspected gunmen have killed the paramount ruler of Orokpor village in Rumueme Community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Charles Miniku. It was gathered that Miniku was assassinated on Friday night during a meeting with other chiefs in the area inside the village hall. SUNDAY PUNCH learnt that the development caused panic in the area as several buildings were set ablaze. A source, who spoke on condition anonymity, said the gunmen stormed the council of chiefs meeting attended by some traditional rulers and chiefs, and shot their target to death.
