Reps say N145 fuel pump price “fraudulent”

The House of Representatives on Monday, critized the current pricing system of premium motor spirit by the Petroleum Products Price Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), describing it as “fraudulent”.
The lawmakers insisted that Nigerians should not buy petrol for more than N70 per litre.
The PPPRA, Nigerian Ports Authority and Nigerian Customs Service officials were all quizzed by the committee.
“In the 2017 budget, which is before us, PPPRA has a proposal of another N500m for regulation, monitoring and supply of petrol,” Chairman of the committee, Nnana Igbokwe said.
“This budgetary provisions have already taken care of the purpose for which you charge 30k on the template, yet Nigerians continue to bear the burden by paying N145 per litre,” Igbokwe added.
“PPPRA will then add the cost to the pump price and ask Nigerians to pay,” Igbokwe added.

Embattled Nigerian artiste, Dammy krane, appeared in court today for his bail hearing in the 9-count fraud charges leveled against him in the U.S. He was in court with Chukwuebuka, his accomplice. Chukwuebuka, who is claiming to be Dammy krane's show promoter, filed paperwork saying that he is indigent. According to our source, the court looked at his papers and it was found that he has no money or property in any bank. He was thereby kept in jail till 22nd of June, 2017. On his part, Dammy krane pleaded not guilty and paperwork was provided to his defense attorney, showing what police found on his phone. The federal government has approved the closure of five foreign missions and embassies, minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama said. Onyeama told newsmen in Abuja on Thursday, May 25, 2017. The minister, who did not mention the embassies or missions, said the process for closure was underway and was also subject to the approval of the president. "We do not want to indicate the embassies that will be closed yet because we are in the process of submitting the proposals, the cost analysis and also the political analysis we did to the president.
