Happening now. Yankuba Badjie, the former Director General of the National Intelligence Agency and Ex Director of Operations Sheikh Omar Jeng, have been taken into custody, the
Freedom Newspaper can reveal. The former NIA officers were arrested last night.
A source writing to us said: "Hello Mr. Mbai, I just want to tell you that Sheikh Omar Jeng and Yankuba Badjie are arrested since yesterday and I am very sure of the information, but still as a journalist can you make your findings."
A Gambian journalist writes: "Yankuba Badjie, the former Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and former Director of operations Sheikh Omar Jeng have been arrested and detained. "
Another source said the arrest of the duo was discussed shortly after the Finance Minister's press conference. " I will not be surprised about the arrest of Yankuba Badjie. I was informed about their imminent arrest," said our source.
Other sources have corroborated the story.

Whistle blower-Efcc uncovers N13billion cash in local,foreign currencies in Lagos apartment

The whistle blowing policy of the Federal Government appears to be paying off as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday announced that it uncovered foreign currencies and Naira notes to the tune of $43.4 million, £27,800 and N23.2 million at a four-bedroom apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos. The total amount of money recovered at the current Central Bank exchange rate is over N13 billion. The operation followed a confidential information received by the Commission's Lagos office regarding some suspicious movement of bags in and out of a particular apartment in the building. Meet the suspects who allegedly murdered a JUMIA delivery man over iPhone 7, police recover body A facebook user, Ossai Ovie Success, said the body of the delivery man was found inside a septic tank and the police detectives had to pull the dead body tied from the tank. He was said to have been declared missing on Saturday and the police began a search for him until he was found in the septic tank within the compound where he delivered the phones. Ikeja bomb blasts: Victims’ families cry out over delayed compensation — 27th January 2017 Fifteen  years after the Ikeja Military Cantonment Bomb Blasts in Lagos,  family members of the victims  on Friday cried out to both the Federal and Lagos State Governments over the delay in the payment of the compensation promised them. The Chairman of the group identified as 2002 Ikeja Bomb Blasts Victims’ Families, Mr Nurudeen Oyegbemi, made the call at the burial site of the victims, where prayers were offered for the souls of the departed at Oke-Afa, Isolo, in Lagos.
