Happening now. Yankuba Badjie, the former Director General of the National Intelligence Agency and Ex Director of Operations Sheikh Omar Jeng, have been taken into custody, the
Freedom Newspaper can reveal. The former NIA officers were arrested last night.
A source writing to us said: "Hello Mr. Mbai, I just want to tell you that Sheikh Omar Jeng and Yankuba Badjie are arrested since yesterday and I am very sure of the information, but still as a journalist can you make your findings."
A Gambian journalist writes: "Yankuba Badjie, the former Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and former Director of operations Sheikh Omar Jeng have been arrested and detained. "
Another source said the arrest of the duo was discussed shortly after the Finance Minister's press conference. " I will not be surprised about the arrest of Yankuba Badjie. I was informed about their imminent arrest," said our source.
Other sources have corroborated the story.

DETECTIVES of Delta State Police Command investigating the September 5 ambush of bank officials and policemen on the Benin-Asaba Expressway by bandits, who carted away N25 million from a bullion van, have apprehended and detained an Inspector and three other policemen, said to be on illegal escort duty. Police Public Relations Officer of Delta Command, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed the arrest and detention of the policemen to Vanguard in Asaba, said Police have released two officials of the bank earlier arrested, while investigations were ongoing. MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Authorities are investigating an early morning homicide just off of Stateline Road. Initial reports indicated the 20-year-old victim was inside a car at the Ashland Lakes Apartments around 3 a.m. when he was shot. Two individuals rushed him to the Olive Branch Methodist Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The driver and passenger were detained for questioning by Olive Branch. She’ll get credit for time served, so she can move to the mental health facility in about two months. Her record will be sealed and expunged when she reaches adulthood. *Police were called to Piccadilly bus station after a suitcase was found on the 192 bus and a man reportedly ran from the scene A suitcase has been left on a bus at Piccadilly bus station sparking a security alert. Police were called to Portland Street after the suitcase was found on the 192 bus at 11.35am. Greater Manchester Police officers are on their way to the scene to investigate.
