ENUGU POLICE LAUNCHES INVESTIGATION INTO ARREST OF PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS

The Enugu state police force has launched a full scale investigation into the widely reported arrest of primary school pupils Montessori primary school,GRA Enugu by some of its officers.

Below is a press statement from the force;

‘ENUGU STATE GOVERNMENT POLICE IN CONJUNCTION WITH EARLY DEW MONTESSORI PRIMARY SCHOOL GRA ENUGU, ARRESTING 4 TO 7 YEAR OLD AND PUTTING THEM BEHIND A HILUX”.

The command wish to make it categorically clear that such development negates its sincere aspiration/programme towards erasing police/children phobia thus bringing children and youth closer to the police as well as exposing them to numerous potentials/opportunities in the police which is part of the command’s laudable programme tagged Students/pupils handshake with the commissioner of police being pursued vigorously by the command.

In view of the above,the command further wish to inform members of the public particularly good people of the state that a full scale investigations have begun into the incident with a view to unmasking and bringing to book those behind the act which is viewed unprofessional.

Six dead, tens injured in DEADLY highway crash  has claimed six -The accident involved a saloon car and a bus -Five of the deceased were from the saloon car Six people lost their lives early on Sunday morning after deadly accident involving a saloon car and a bus along the Londiani-Muhoroni-Kisumu Highway . The accident occurred when the driver of the bus lost control of the vehicle and consequently swerved into the other lane, colliding with the Toyota Wish head-on. Five of the six who died on the spot were from the personal vehicle. The meeting of the Federal Executive Council that holds every Wednesday did not hold yesterday. Yesterday would have afforded President Muhammadu Buhari who returned to the country on Saturday the opportunity of presiding over the council meeting for the first time in over three months. The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, disclosed in a statement that the meeting would not hold. Adesina did not however disclose the reason behind the decision to cancel the meeting. The Kogi State Police Command on Wednesday arrested three notorious kidnappers terrorizing the state, particularly Okene axis. Jamie Harron, 27, has been sentenced to three months in jail in Dubai for touching a man's hip as he carried a drink through a crowded bar. He was arrested for public indecency at the Rock Bottom bar on 15 July. The electrician, from Stirling, claimed he was simply trying to avoid spilling his drink when he touched the man. It was thought the case against Harron might have been dropped after reports that the businessman he touched had withdrawn his complaint. But on Sunday the campaign group Detained in Dubai, which has been supporting Harron, said he had been sentenced to three months in jail for public indecency. The group said he would appeal against the jail term but he faced further court proceedings for drinking alcohol and for allegedly swearing at the businessman he touched.
