RIVERS RERUN;111M RECOVERED FROM BRIBED ELECTORAL STAFF

The Nigeria Police has said it recovered 111 million Naira from some electoral officers who conducted the Rivers rerun elections showing cash evidence allegedly recovered from 23 suspects.

The recovered cash was shown to the Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris and others during submission of report of enquiry,the Inspector General vowed to end the culture of political violence perpetrated by politicians and promised that all those indicted by the panel's report,including six dismissed Police officers would be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others who see elections as a do or die affair.
Meanwhile,the Director,Voter Education and Publicity of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC,Mr Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, pledged to cooperate with the Police authorities in prosecuting the indicted officials.

There has been a lot of controversies since the conduct of the re-run election leading to allegations of bribery and intimidation.
When the panel was set up by the Police, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, openly criticized the composition of the investigative committee, saying he had no confidence in it.
He also set up his own committee to look into the complaints and allegation of fraud during the Rivers re-run election.The outcome of his own committee is what no one has seen or heard of.

Unknown Gunmen Kill University Student, Watchman In Jigawa. 17th Feb 2017, A 27-year-old university student, Muhammad Garzali, was killed by unidentified assailants at Kafinhausa town of Kafinhausa Local Government Area of Jigawa. Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Abdu Jinjiri, an ASP, said that Garzali was murdered alongside a 60-year-old watchman, Ali Dan-Katsina, at a motor park in the area. Officers were called to Holmes Park Elementary School on Monday after a teacher found Megan Sloan's Facebook page open on a computer, according to KOKI-TV. Authorities say the page featured a conversation where Sloan reportedly asked about using and selling heroin. Detectives told KOKI that during the investigation, Sloan allegedly admitted to pawning two iPads that belonged to the school district. 72-year-old Actor John Heard, who played the role of Peter McCallister in hit 90s movies Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, was reportedly found dead in his hotel room. This is really shocking. A teenage girl from Imo State identified as Chidinma Iheoma was caught by security operatives with human head. According to the security men, the head which was detached from the deceased body – was found with the girl who carried it in a bag before she was apprehended. When quizzed by security operatives in a video footage posted online, she initially claimed she was on her way to bury the head but later disclosed that her friend was the person who cut the head and that she has killed two people so far.
