RIVERS RERUN;111M RECOVERED FROM BRIBED ELECTORAL STAFF

The Nigeria Police has said it recovered 111 million Naira from some electoral officers who conducted the Rivers rerun elections showing cash evidence allegedly recovered from 23 suspects.

The recovered cash was shown to the Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris and others during submission of report of enquiry,the Inspector General vowed to end the culture of political violence perpetrated by politicians and promised that all those indicted by the panel's report,including six dismissed Police officers would be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others who see elections as a do or die affair.
Meanwhile,the Director,Voter Education and Publicity of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC,Mr Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, pledged to cooperate with the Police authorities in prosecuting the indicted officials.

There has been a lot of controversies since the conduct of the re-run election leading to allegations of bribery and intimidation.
When the panel was set up by the Police, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, openly criticized the composition of the investigative committee, saying he had no confidence in it.
He also set up his own committee to look into the complaints and allegation of fraud during the Rivers re-run election.The outcome of his own committee is what no one has seen or heard of.

MAN IN CUSTODY FOR ASSAULT ON PREGNANT WOMAN February 22, 2017; An Osun Magistrate Court sitting in Ile-Ife has docked one Dayo Adebayo, 29, for alleged assault on a pregnant woman.   The prosecutor, Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on February 13, around 11:45 pm at Ehindi Street, Ile-Ife.Osanyintuyi, said Adebayo assaulted the woman named Blessing Monday, by hitting her with his fist across her face, causing various injuries.He added that the offence was contrary to and punishable under section 356 of the Criminal Code (Cap 34 Vol 11), Laws of Osun, 2002. NIGERIAN NURSE TRIES DRAGGING TEENAGER INTO HIS CAR FOR SEX, FILMS ANOTHER NAKED A cancer nurse tried to drag a 16-year-old girl into his car containing 16 condoms, three tins of Vaseline and a roll of tape, a jury has heard in the U.K. It is alleged Michael Ohaegbu grabbed her off a Hull street last September.  He denies attempted kidnap, assault, and committing an offence with intent to commit a sexual offence. The 42-year-old also pleaded not guilty at Hull Crown Court to three counts of voyeurism, which relate to another complainant.  Ohaegbu, who worked at Castle Hill Hospital, is accused of twice filming the second complainant naked, and once under a table at a restaurant, without her consent between July and August 2016. The court was told, that on 26 September, the teenager was walking along Peel Street after midnight when Mr Ohaegbu tried to kidnap her, allegedly, with the intention of committing a sexual offence. 72-year-old Clarence White who got fed up of his wife complaining about his inability to satisfy her sexually or financially ended up pulling the trigger on her. The man is said to have grabbed a 22-caliber handgun and shot his much-younger wife in the face at their Bronx home on Thursday morning. KOGI GOVERNOR SEEKS ASSEMBLY'S APPROVAL FOR N11 BN SUPPLEMENTARY BUDGET

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state, in a letter to the State House of Assembly, is seeking the approval of a supplementary budget of N11 billion for the 2017 fiscal year. The governor said the budget would take care of certain areas of economic development that were not previously captured.(Kogi state has not recorded any singular form of development since the present government came into existence) Bello stated that the budget would enable his administration to continue to execute its projects and programmes.(EFCC please note) The governor said it will also address security issues and other obvious sectors' challenges that are within and outside the current approved budget. After reading the letter to the House, Speaker Ahmed Imam directed the Majority Leader, Mathew Kolawole to slate it on the order paper for consideration at the next legislative day. The House is expected to consider the governor's request when members resume sitting on 1 August, 2017.
