Edo State Speaker Escapes Assassination Attempt



Mr. Justin Okonoboh, Edo state speaker on Friday evening,escaped being murdered at Igueben Local Government Area of the state.

Okonoboh, made this known while briefing journalists in Benin on Saturday.He thanked his backup driver for saving him from the assassins saying:
   “When we looked back, the car was behind my backup Hilux van. The Camry wanted to overtake the Hilux to block me but the driver did not allow them. The Toyota Camry struggled with the Hilux for about five kilometres and they almost crashed but did not give up.

“The policemen inside the Hilux van fired a shot into the air to scare them but that did not deter them as they kept chasing us. It happened around Ugbegun-Nebudin-Ujogba Road. It was when we got to the Benin-Auchi Expressway that they waved their hands to us as a warning.I do not know whether they are armed robbers or kidnappers but I know that only assassins would behave the way the men did.
  “My security aides inside the Hilux said the men were armed. I have enough security aides attached to me but the challenge is that there are no vehicles to convey them when I am travelling,” he explained. Okonoboh said he had reported the matter to the commissioner of police.

Two Seattle police officers were shot Thursday while responding to a robbery at a 7-Eleven, according to the city's police department. The two officers, one male and one female, were brought to the Harborview Medical Center. The hospital tweeted that the male officer was upgraded to serious but stable condition, and that the female officer remained in satisfactory condition. One officer suffered a shot to the chest, but was wearing a vest sustained minor injuries. Tragedy as Mechanic in Lagos Kills Sales Boy in Broad Daylight 10/02/2017 The police in Lagos State have launched a manhunt for a mechanic, Fatai Bashiru, for allegedly killing a sales boy, Shedrach Emenike, aka Chiboy, in the Papa Ajao, Mushin area of the state. Punch Metro learnt that Bashiru stabbed the 23-year-old in the armpit and other parts of his body for allegedly scratching a car belonging to his customer. Disturbing CCTV footage allegedly shows a homeless man following a mother before she was raped and murdered. Pardeep Kaur 30,was walking to the hotel where she worked as a housekeeper at around 6.30am on October 17 last year, a court heard. A week later, her body was found hidden in a bush near the scene. Her jeans and underwear had been thrown into a puddle nearby.Her husband reported her missing when she didn’t return home after work that evening.
