Ex Gov Chime Formally Announces Desaid.ion to APC, Says PDP is Dead
Former Enugu state governor, Sullivan Iheanacho Chime, has formally announced his defection from the PDP to the APC.
"The PDP, we used to be members of is dead. The party I joined in 1999 and had the opportunity of leading in the state for eight years is no longer in existence," he said in a statement issued during the weekend.
"We have two groups claiming to be in charge of the party as chairman. These two, none of them can actually lay claim to the chairmanship of the party. There is no provision in PDP's Constitution for interim caretaker committee led by Sen. Ahmed Maikarfi."
"The PDP convention has no power to set up a caretaker committee and did not seek to amend the party's constitution" he said

McGregor had previously failed to show up twice for his court appearance over the ticket, and it was looking like he was going to make it a third time before he finally showed. A bloody clash between the army and police in Nigeria's restive northeastern Yobe state on Wednesday left one soldier and three police dead, a security source told AFP.  The police confirmed the fracas in the state capital of Damaturu, but did not say if there were casualties.  "The Nigeria police force is abreast of the unfortunate incident that occurred in the early hours of today 12th April, 2017 in Damaturu between the personnel of the force and that of the Nigerian army," police spokesman Jimoh Moshood said in a statement.  He said an investigation had been launched to determine "the causes of the incident and deal with the situation appropriately to prevent such occurrence in the future".  The army authorities were not immediately available for comment.
