POSTMORTEMS TO BE CARRIED OUT ON BODIES OF CANADIAN-AMERICAN COUPLE

By BBN Staff: Yesterday, the bodies of the missing Canadian-American couple were discovered near a cane field in Chan Chen village in the Corozal district.

Reports to BBN is that an on site post-mortem examination is being conducted on the bodies at this time.

According to these reports, the bodies are in an advanced state of decomposition.

Canadian national, Francesca Matus, 52, and her boyfriend, American national, Drew Devoursney, 36, were last seen on Tuesday night leaving a bar in Corozal town.

Matus was to fly to Canada, Wednesday morning. A friend who was to take Matus to the airport, American national Joseph Milholen, reported to police that he called her several times but to no avail.

Milholen also called Devoursney but received no response.

Police and volunteers had organized search parties from Wednesday through to Monday.

On Sunday, Matus’ white Isuzu Rodeo was discovered in a cane field in Paraiso village, Corozal.

The Nigerian government has reacted to the killing of a Nigerian identified as Rasak Alao in South Africa. Recall that the Nigerian man, an auto mechanic, was on Thursday killed in South Africa after he was attacked alongside other Nigerians in Polokwane, Limpopo Province in South Africa. Reports indicated that the men were attacked following suspicions that they were into drug trafficking. Rasak Alao whose car was burnt lost his life in the attack which was carried out on him and five other Nigerians. T wenty six year-old Alice Awuor Omito from Rongo, Migori County, Kenya, has shocked many after confessing that preparing the dead for burial is the one thing that makes her happy. The employee of Rosewood Funeral Home in Rongo said that she dropped out of nursing school after fears that she would not secure employment after school. The mortician began working as a morgue attendant at Star Mortuary in Kisumu two years ago, aged 24 before transferring to Rosewood in Rongo and says that she can't imagine being away from the dead. GUNMEN WAYLAY BUS IN RIVERS, KIDNAP 19 OCCUPANTS

Kidnappers struck again in Rivers State on Thursday, waylaying an 18-seater bus and abducting the 19 occupants of the vehicle, including the driver. It was gathered that the incident happened on Isiokpo-Elele Road in the Ikwerre Local Government Area, about 30 kilometres from Agip Junction in Port Harcourt, where the bus branded, Rivers Mass Transit Company, took off. Sources explained that the kidnappers, who were 10 in number and heavily armed, blocked the road and forced the bus to stop as soon as it (bus) approached them. Thursday's abduction would be the third time in one month that passengers would be waylaid on the road by hoodlums. It was also learnt that the victims, who were on their way to Owerri, the Imo State capital, were marched into the bush by their captors at about 8.30am.
