ROBBERY;UNDERGRADUATE REMANDED IN PRISON

A 24-year-old student, Chijioke Samson, who allegedly broke into a house and robbed a woman, Mrs Modupe Adebayo of her wedding ring and laptops at gunpoint with others still at large, was on Monday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

 Samson, who resides in Ikotun, a Lagos suburb, is facing a three-count charge bordering on unlawful possession of firearms and stealing.

 Although the accused denied the charge, the prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Imhonwa told the court that the accused committed the offences with others still at large on April 3 at about 9.30 p.m. at No. 21, Ore-ofe St., off Governor’s Road, Ikotun.

 He said the accused broke into the complainant’s house and robbed her of her wedding ring, two laptops, a phone, all valued at N575, 000 and N108, 000 cash.

 “The accused was apprehended by the police in his escape bid while accomplices fled in an unmarked car.’’

 According to Imhonwa, police recovered one locally-made gun with two live cartridges from the accused.

 The offences contravened Sections 295, 296 and 297 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (revised).

 The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi ordered that the accused be remanded in prison and directed that the case file should be sent to the State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

 Osunsanmi adjourned the case until July 24 for mention.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A Memphis preschool worker has been charged with aggravated child abuse after police say she dragged a 16-month-old boy by one leg and broke the other. Police said the toddler was injured September 20 at the M.E.M. Preschool and Summer Camp on Macon road while he was being watched by Omeika Williams. Investigators said Williams told the child’s parents the boy tripped over a rug and hurt his left leg, but video from the preschool showed her dragging the boy by his right leg causing his left to twist under his body. RITUALS - COURT REMANDS 2 IN PRISON CUSTODY

An Ile-Ife Magistrate Court has remanded one Isreal Ojimi, 38, said to be a prophet and Bose Adetimikan, 27, in prison custody over alleged rituals. The prosecutor, Inspector Emmanuel Abdullahi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on May 20, 2017, around 10:00 pm at Mosarajo area via Ile-Ife. According to him, they had armed themselves with some charms in the form of a garment with an intention to commit felony. He further explained that they conducted themselves in a manner that caused mayhem, adding that their behavior was against the norms and ethics of the nation and had contravened sections 213, 249 (d) and 516 of the State Penal Code. Although defence counsel, Mr Alaba Awoseemo pleaded for their bail in most libral terms, the plea was not accepted. Amilcar Henriquez shot dead in his Panama home . Police in Panama say national team soccer player Amilcar Henriquez has been shot dead while leaving his home. The press chief for Panama’s National Police says the killing happened Saturday in the country’s Colon province. Authorities say a gunman shot the 33-year-old midfielder several times. Another two people were wounded. The player died at a nearby hospital. President Juan Carlos Varela has condemned the killing on his Twitter account. February 15 2017 A homicide investigation is underway Wednesday after two bodies, presumed to be missing 13-year-olds Liberty German and Abigail Williams, were found on Tuesday. Hundreds of Palestinians held in Israeli jails are beginning a mass hunger strike in protest against their conditions. The action is being led by Marwan Barghouti, a Palestinian leader jailed by Israel for life for five murders.
