REPS REFUSING TO SWEAR-IN HEMBE'S REPLACEMENT

The House of Representatives, on Tuesday, again refused to swear in the member-elect for Konshisha/Vandeikya Federal Constituency of Benue state, Dorothy Mato.

Mato is to replace the former chairman of the House Committee on Federal Capital Territory, Rep. Herma Hembe.

The Supreme Court had on June 25 sacked Hembe and Sen. Sani Abubakar Danladi and ordered that Hon. Mato and Shuaibu Isa Lau be sworn in immediately.

The court also ordered the sacked legislators to refund all monies collected as salaries and allowances in the last two years.

While Senator Shuaibu Isa Lau had since been sworn in by the Senate President, Hon. Mato's swearing is still hanging in the House.

Last Thursday, the House Spokesman, Rep. Abdulrazaq Namdas explained that the member-elect could not be sworn in because she needed to complete certain documentation.

But a constituent of the lawmaker confirmed that Mato had done all the necessary documentation.

"Mato, was kept in the office of the clerk to the house for hours waiting to be ushered into the chamber for swearing in, but to no avail.''

Her constituents and supporters, who came to the gallery to witness her inauguration, left disappointed.

At plenary, Speaker Yakubu Dogara was absent in the chambers and the house was presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Lasun Yussuff.

Heavily armed policemen on Tuesday in Dutse, Jigawa State capital, fired teargas canisters at a crowd that gathered at the Chief Magistrate Court Two for the arraignment of former governor Sule Lamido, who is being tried for making inciting remarks. Counsel for the Jigawa State Government, Ikenna Ekpunobi, insisted that Lamido should not be granted bail until investigation was completed. A middle aged man has been arrested in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital for being in possession of human parts. Tribune Online gathered that the suspect had been under surveillance of residents of Ita Kudimo, Abata Suban, Pakata area of Ilorin West local government in the past few days after speculation grew that he possessed a corpse in his building. It was also gathered that the neighbours of the suspect swooped on his residence at about noon on Sunday and the suspect was allegedly caught with human parts. ROUND LAKE BEACH.– Three teens have been charged after a suburban Illinois father was killed while trying to sell his iPhone using the popular app OfferUp, according to WGN-TV. Police say 43-year-old Trinidad Bueno-Sanchez of North Chicago, a married man with a 6-year-old child, did everything right when trying to sell his cellphone. Using OfferUp, he found a potential buyer who expressed interest in purchasing his iPhone 6 for $450, and agreed to meet them in the parking lot of a Meijer store in Round Lake Beach the evening of April 24. Gunmen suspected to be militants on Thursday morning invaded Lagos State Model College, Igbo Nla, Epe, Lagos, abducting the principals and some students. The kidnappers were said to have stormed the school in the early hours when the students were at the morning assembly. The gunmen abducted the principal of the junior secondary school, Mr. Oyesola and Mr. Akirinmade who is the Principal of the senior secondary school. They also abducted some of the students.
