ZIMBABWEAN AIR FORCE OFFICER KILLS COLLEAGUE IN BEER BRAWL

A beer binge by two airmen ended tragically in Kwekwe last week when one of them went berserk and murdered his colleague for allegedly stealing a six-pack of Golden Pilsener. Kelvin Nhete, an Air Force of Zimbabwe officer based at Air Defence Regiment in Redcliff, fatally assaulted his colleague, Phillip Muhenyeri, whom he accused of stealing the six-pack, while they were drinking at a night club in Old Mbizo.
Nhete (29) appeared before Kwekwe resident magistrate Mr Philemon Livard charged with murder.

He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to September 9.
He was advised to apply to the High Court for bail consideration.

The prosecutor Ms Chipo Hungwe told the court that on August 18 and at Old Mbizo Shopping Centre, Kwekwe, Nhete assaulted Muhenyeri with a blunt object and left him lying on the ground.

"Muhenyeri sustained head injuries and bruises on the chest, face and head," she said. "He was ferried to Kwekwe General Hospital where he died on August 19 due to injuries he sustained during the assault."

The Nigerian Air Force has sentenced to death by hanging Airman Kalu Bernard, for killing his lover, Solape Oladipupo, aka Shomzy Shomzy, on March 12, 2017. The judgment, which started at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, dragged till 4 p.m. when it was stood down before the panelists reconvened at 7:30 p.m. Reading out the 70-page court findings, which lasted for about two hours, the Judge Advocate, Flight Lieutenant M.A. Umoh, listed the eight-count charges against 21-year-old Kalu to include murder, house breaking, impersonation, attempted murder, among others. The defense counsel, Abimiku Ewuga, urged the court to temper justice with mercy, saying the accused was his family breadwinner. The President of the court, Gp. Capt. A 40-year-old man, Stephen Akpata, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend, Onyinye Faustina Eze, to death at the Kpansia suburb of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. Ghanaian Reggae musician Ekow Micah has stood his ground regarding his stance for smoking "wee". Micah referred to the Holy Bible and cited an instance where God smoked marijuana popularly known as "wee" In an interview with Akwasi Aboagye on Peace FM's "Entertainment Review", Ekow Micah said he smokes because the almighty God smoked. He quoted Psalm 18:7-8 to buttress his point. "The earth trembled and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains shook; they trembled because he was angry.
