4 DIE IN COTE D'IVOIRE PLANE CRASH

At least four people were killed on Saturday when a propeller-engine cargo plane crashed in the sea near the International Airport in Abidjan, a Reuters witness said.

Six others were believed to have been injured in the crash of the Antonov aircraft which police said had 10 people on board.

Rescue workers removed two bodies from the plane, which had broken into several pieces and came to rest near the beach.

Two other bodies were visible in the wreckage

French military sources said that French nationals were among the injured.

"The aircraft failed to land and crashed in the water. Firefighters and security forces are on the scene." said police commissioner Charlemagne Bleu.

TEENAGER ARRESTED AND CHARGED TO COURT FOR STABBING WOMAN

A 16-year-old boy (name withheld) was on Thursday charged before an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stabbing a woman on the head with a broken glass. The accused, a secondary school student, who lives with his parents at Fagba area of Iju-Ifako, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a charge of assault. The prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, told the court that the offence was committed on April 3 at the accused’s tenement building. Ogu said a fight ensued between the accused’s mother and the complainant, Mrs Jessica Nwosu, over washing of toilet. “The accused just came into the scene, broke a glass and stabbed the complainant on the head and cheeks for abusing her mother.’’ The offence contravened Section 243 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. Police arrest a serving soldier and a civil servant for kidnapping woman Bayelsa Police Command  on Saturday  said it arrested two suspects, L/Cpl Williams Zekena, a serving soldier and Tom Yakubu Musa, an engineer, for allegedly kidnapping a lady in Warri, Delta on April 4. The state police commissioner, Asuquo Amba, said the suspects abducted one Aya Beauty, 25, from Warri in Delta and took her to Bayelsa and kept her captive in a hotel while demanding a N24 million ransom from her family. The commissioner said the command also arrested Okechukwu Umeokoro, a former soldier, with a military pistol. Amba said the kidnappers of Aya Beauty had collected N200,000 from her fiancée before they were arrested. They had reduced the ransom from N24m ransom to N11m and later to N200,000.
