Kate Middleton's uncle Gary Goldsmith charged over late-night assault in London

British police say they have charged the uncle of the Duchess of Cambridge with assault after a late-night altercation in a London street.

The Metropolitan Police force says Gary Goldsmith, Kate Middleton's maternal uncle, faces a charge of assault by beating over an incident near his home Friday at 1:20am local time.

British newspapers reported Saturday that the alleged victim is his wife, Julie-Ann Goldsmith.

Goldsmith has been released on bail and is due in court on October 31.
Goldsmith attended Middleton's 2011 royal wedding to Prince William.

Often depicted as her wayward uncle, Goldsmith once owned a house in Spain called La Maison de Bang Bang.

He was filmed in 2009 by an undercover reporter apparently taking cocaine and bragging about his ñ connections.

EFCC UNCOVERS N13 BILLION CASH IN LOCAL AND FOREIGN CURRENCIES IN LAGOS APARTMENT

The whistle blowing policy of the Federal Government appears to be paying off as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday announced that it uncovered foreign currencies and Naira notes to the tune of $43.4 million, £27,800 and N23.2 million at a four-bedroom apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos. The total amount of money recovered at the current Central Bank exchange rate is over N13 billion. The operation followed a confidential information received by the Commission's Lagos office regarding some suspicious movement of bags in and out of a particular apartment in the building. Another source who is conversant with the apartment indicated that a woman usually appeared on different occasions with 'Ghana Must Go' bags, the EFCC said. A suspected ritual killer, Adebayo Mudashiru, has confessed that he and his colleagues buy human parts, including skulls, eyes and teeth, for N12,000. The suspect was arrested alongside three others in the Abeokuta and Owode Egba areas of the state by men of the Ogun State Police Command. The state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, paraded the suspects at the headquarters of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Magbon, Abeokuta over the weekend. Iliyasu said the four suspects specialized in killing for ritual purposes and belonged to two different ritual groups.
