The annual Oodua Festival 2017 edition held at the Palace Square of Ooni of Ife, Ile-Ife, State of Osun.

The festival was graced by His Imperial Majesty Oba (Dr) Adeyeye Ogunwusi Enitan, Zaki of Arigidi Akokoland Oba Yisa Olanipekun and other members of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and Oodua Progressive Union (OPU).
Speaking at the event, the Ooni of Ife urged Yorubas to always remember their ancestral home, ensure unity and progress of the Yoruba race.
The festival which is powered by the Olokun Festival Foundation witnessed dance performance by different troupes.

POLICE IDENTIFY UPS DRIVERS KILLED BY CO-WORKER

Officials have identified the three men killed after a UPS driver opened fire during a meeting at company warehouse in San Francisco. San Francisco's chief medical examiner identified the victims as 50-year-old Benson Louie and 56-year-old Wayne Chan, both of San Francisco; and 46-year-old Michael Lefiti, of Hercules. Police say the three UPS drivers were killed by 38-year-old Jimmy Lam, who fatally shot himself in the head in front of officers. A motive in the killings has not been determined. 7:30 p.m. A union official says the gunman who shot and killed three people at a UPS warehouse in San Francisco had filed a grievance complaining that he was working excessive overtime. Troops of 3 Battalion, 22 Brigade Nigerian Army on Operation Lafiya Dole, assisted by 10 Civilian JTF embarked on an offensive operation, at an suspected location of Boko Haram terrorists at Jarawa village in Kala Balge Local Government Area of Borno State. The troops while advancing came under heavy fire at Jarawa village, but neutralized 21 Boko Haram terrorists and rescued 1,623 residents who were held captives by the terrorists.   A PROSTITUTE    A 30-year-old woman in Malaysia had been arrested for allegedly forcing her teenage daughter into prostitution, local media reported on Monday. T wenty six year-old Alice Awuor Omito from Rongo, Migori County, Kenya, has shocked many after confessing that preparing the dead for burial is the one thing that makes her happy. The employee of Rosewood Funeral Home in Rongo said that she dropped out of nursing school after fears that she would not secure employment after school. The mortician began working as a morgue attendant at Star Mortuary in Kisumu two years ago, aged 24 before transferring to Rosewood in Rongo and says that she can't imagine being away from the dead. The Zamfara State Police Command on Wednesday intercepted two vehicles carrying arms in different parts of the state. The spokesman of the command, Muhammad Shehu, confirmed the development in Gusau. He told the News Agency of Nigeria that items recovered from the vehicles were three AK47 riffles, an automatic pistol, locally-made pistol, magazines and live ammunitions. According to him, other items recovered include N103, 435 cash, ATM card, three voters’ cards, military camouflage and a stamp of the Cattle Traders Association of Nigeria in the Bukuru Local Government Area of Plateau.
