About 97 Nigerians have been deported from South Africa for alleged civil and criminal offences.
The deportees – 95 males and two females – arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport from Johannesburg on Monday night.
Those accused of criminal offences were handed over to the police for prosecution, while those accused of committing civil offences were allowed to go home.
This is coming a few days after a South African mob attacked Nigerians and their businesses in the country.
The Nigerian government condemned the attacks, and also threatened consequences if they are not checked.
The Nigerian senate has also resolved to send a strong delegation to the country to protest against the attacks.
In the space of a month, about 500 Nigerians have been deported  from different countries.
Last week, 314 Nigerians were forced to return home as a result of harrowing experiences in Libya.
On Thursday, Cameroon repatriated 517 Nigerians, while Germany, Italy and Belgium deported 43 Nigerians on Friday.
On Monday, 41 Nigerians girls who were trafficked to Mali returned.
The economic situation in the country has made many consider the other option of seeking green pasture abroad.

ONIGBESE GOVERNOR OF KOGI MOVES TO END STRIKE IN STATE UNIVERSITY

Governor  Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has appealed to members of the state university's academic staff union to call off their strike.(Which would be a big mistake if they comply) Bello, who visited the University at Ayingba on Tuesday, pledged to pay all the salary arrears of lecturers and non-academic staff of the institution this month. He said the payment would cover those on contract and study leave, as well as those employed in 2015. In an alleged ecstasy to impress their paymaster, a team of police operatives, on Sunday, shot dead one Elvis Ovie and injured another, Onome Eko, during a party in Warri, Delta State. Operatives, three of whom are now in police detention, were said to have been in a shooting spree to impress an alleged internet fraudster popularly called 'yahoo yahoo boys' for whom they were providing security. Nigerian artiste and the father of the 2nd child of serial entrepreneur, Toyin lawani, has been arrested by the Lagos State police.  As at the time of filing this report, Lordtrigg is at the Jakande police station, Lekki, Lagos, for not paying his hotel bills at the Golden Bird Hotel in Ilasan, Lekki He's currently behind the counter with his friend, without slippers. The hotel had reported them and police busted them in their room today, with their laptops.  The hotel said they claim to be musicians but the police is claiming that they are "Yahoo boys," after busting them with four laptops. It was gathered that they have been staying at the hotel for six months without paying.

NIGERIAN SECURITY AGENTS FOIL ISIS/BOKO HARAM PLOT TO BOMB UK AND US EMBASIES

Nigerian security forces say they have foiled a plot by ISIS-linked Boko Haram militants to bomb the British High Commission and US Embassy in the capital Abuja. The Department of State Services announced that it had arrested five suspects who were planning attacks. A DSS official said a suspected Boko Haram member who was arrested on March 22, in north-eastern Yobe state, confessed details of the plot. That led to the arrests of the five plotters, who were based in Benue State, in the country's middle belt, and the Federal Capital Territory, on March 25 and 26. 30 NEW ILLEGAL REFINERIES FOUND IN RIVERS STATE

Victor Choji, the Executive Officer of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder, Port Harcourt, said this during the destruction of one of the illegal refineries on Thursday. He said all the refineries were discovered in Asari Toru Local Government area of Rivers, with 40 huge metallic storage tanks . The News Agency of Nigeria reports that some of the storage tanks were filled with petroleum products suspected to be diesel and crude oil. Choji noted that the discovery was in continuation of the current mop-up of illegal refineries and illicit bunkering of petroleum products by crude oil thieves.
