What is happening in Calabar,the Cross River state capital?It has been in the news for the same wrong reason a couple of times lately.Some notorious armed robbers were killed in Calabar after policemen engaged them in a gun battle this afternoon.

According to Ifere Paul, one of the robbers was arrested by police last week and later was released by the police even after he was captured with a gun and live bullets.

Luck ran out on the robbers who went to rob around Mayne Avenue, Calabar as the police engaged them in a deadly gun duel. The dead bodies of the armed robbers could be seen lying on the ground with their other gang members who survived the gun battle.

Ifere Paul sounded a warning to police to stop releasing criminals back to the public. He wrote: “according to inside information, one of the robbers was one that I reported last two weeks that he was arrested by police and was bailed and released by Police after captured with a gun and live bullets.
“The information has it that he has also spent sometimes with SARS. It is quite unfortunate that the police are sending arm robbers back into the society to go and commit more crimes.

“However, luck ran out of them today when three of his gangsters were shot dead during gun battle with Police at Mayne Avenue Calabar.
The young man resting his head on the gutter is the same guy I displayed here two weeks ago.

“The Police officers in Calabar should not give us the go ahead to demonstrate against them please. If you arrest a criminal with a gun, please make sure that person is prosecuted.”

Suspected Boko Haram Members Kill 10-Year-Old Boy February 16, 2017 Policemen attached to the Inspector- General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris’ Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT), have arrested suspected Boko Haram members, who abducted a 10-year-old boy in Maiduguri, Borno State and later stabbed him to death. The victim, Baa Goni Maina, was abducted on January 14 by 18-year-old Adam Bakura and his brother, Modu Bakura. He was killed three days later after his father couldn’t cough up the N10 million ransom the brothers demanded. Man allegedly chops off pregnant woman’s hand A man, who was engaged in a fight with his neighbour in Isaba-Ekiti, allegedly chopped off the left wrist of a pregnant woman, Aisha Adam, with a cutlass. A News Agency of Nigeria correspondent, who visited the pregnant woman and mother of four on her hospital bed on Monday, reports that the left hand of the victim was cut off from the wrist. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) on Tuesday paraded a 17-year-old Boko Haram suspect, who admitted killing 18 people since he joined the group three years ago.  The suspect, Ali Mustafa, said he was forced to join the deadly group when Boko Haram terrorists attacked his village in Monguno and left with many boys.
