Italy deports 37 Male Nigerians

       The Italian government has deported another batch of Nigerians for committing immigration-related offences in the country, just two weeks after it deported 33 Nigerians. The fresh 37 deportees arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMlA) Lagos, on Tuesday night.

     Nigerians who voluntarily returned from Libya disembarking from the aircraft on their arrival at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport,Ikeja in Lagos on Tuesday.The deportees,who are all males,were brought back in a chartered aircraft with registration number OM-IEX.

     DSP Joseph Alabi, the spokesman of the Lagos Airport Police Command, confirmed the development. The deportees were received by officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) , the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and the Police.Also on ground to receive them were officials the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
     NAN gathered that the deportees were profiled by immigration authorities and were each given a stipend to facilitate their transportation to their respective states. On 23 February, Italy also sent 33 Nigerians back home.

The Economic Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has said that no amount of scare-mongering will dissuade it from “vigorously enforcing its mandate to rid Nigeria of corruption”, if the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, is found guilty in its latest findings. The suspect, a graduate of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, was arrested alongside his accomplice, Adebayo Kazeem, 32, after stealing the items from their work place. Hamzat, a father of three, allegedly stole the bags of cement from the company a day after he was promoted to the post of a supervisor with a financial reward of N215,000 per month. The suspect started work at the factory as a Contract Security from where he rose to become an operator. A new report has emerged detailing how Nigerian and other African immigrants are sold as slaves for a mere $400 in North Africa. Nigerian soldier sentenced to death for killing civilian February 1, 2017 Agency Report The Nigeria Army general court martial sitting in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Wednesday sentenced a soldier to seven years in prison for shooting and killing an unarmed civilian two years ago. The convicted soldier, Hassan Adamu, a lance corporal, had told the court that he shot the deceased on December 23, 2015 in self defence. He said the victim attempted to disarm him while he was on guard duty at the popular Monday market, Maiduguri.
