         Police in Saudi Arabia said Wednesday they shot dead a member of the Islamic State group in the capital, the latest suspected jihadist to be killed by security forces. Officers were called at 6:00 pm (1500 GMT) on Tuesday to an apartment in Riyadh’s Al-Rayan district where the suspect was “flaunting his support” for the extremist group, the interior ministry said in a statement.

        “He started to resist and waved a gun which he was carrying,” forcing police to eliminate “the threat he posed,” the ministry added. Another suspect was arrested.IS has claimed a series of deadly shootings and bombings since late 2014 in Sunni-dominated Saudi Arabia.

           Most attacks have targeted the Shiite minority and security forces, killing dozens of people. IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has called for attacks against Saudi Arabia, a member of the US-led coalition battling the group in Syria and Iraq. On January 7, Saudi officers shot and killed two suspected jihadists including an explosive belt maker during a police operation in northern Riyadh.

2 FULANI HERDSMEN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY RAPING 14 YEAR OLD TEEN

Two Fulani herdsmen, Umar and Musa Ali, who are brothers, have been arrested by men of the Nasarawa State Police Command for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl at Tudun Lambaga in the Eggon Hills area, Eggon Local Government Area of the state. The victim, simply identified as Esther, was reportedly ambushed and assaulted by the suspects at a secluded part of the road. According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Nassarawa, DSP Kennedy Idirisu, Umar and Musa had been apprehended following a complaint by Esther’s parents. Narrating her ordeal in an interview with journalists in Lafia, Esther stated that she was with four others when the incident happened. French police officer fatally shot three people on a street near Paris before killing himself, according to reports. The incident was part of an apparent domestic dispute in which the officer's girlfriend, her mother and sister were injured, the BBC reported. Her father and two passers-by were killed in the shooting which happened in the town of Sarcelles late on Saturday. The mayor of Sarcelles, north of Paris, said the woman had recently told her partner that she was breaking up with him, according to the BBC. The officer first killed two people with his service weapon on the street, Le Monde newspaper said. Sarcelles Mayor François Pupponi reporters that the passers-by killed had no connection with the officer. An attempt by a mother of two children to smuggle a phone to her boyfriend in prison custody has been foiled by the officials of the Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The 33-year-old woman, Fatima Balogun who has been arrested by men of the Special Intelligence Unit of the NPS, carried out the action on Wednesday at the gate lodge of Abeokuta maximum Prisons in Ibara. The suspect confessed that she hid the phone which she bought for her boyfriend identified as Ganiyu Ajibode, in the cooler of soup from the Prisons officials. Balogun said she was a divorcee with two children before she met Ganiyu about two years back. In an alleged ecstasy to impress their paymaster, a team of police operatives, on Sunday, shot dead one Elvis Ovie and injured another, Onome Eko, during a party in Warri, Delta State.
