A defamation suit against two journalists including the controversial Kemi Olunloyo, on Thursday suffered a setback in a Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt.
Nigerian journalist and social media personality, Kemi Olunloyo, who is the controversial daughter of former governor of Oyo State, suffered a setback in a Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital on Thursday.
The popular Ibadan-based blogger, Kemi and the Publisher of Rivers Today, a local tabloid in Port Harcourt, Samuel Walson are facing a four count charge of defamation and false publication against the General Overseer of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyomie.
The court which was meant to take the bail application of the two journalists today, could not sit because Magistrate Alatua Fubara was indisposed, as Thursday, March 30th has been fixed as new date to hear the bail application.
While speaking with newsmen, Counsels to the two journalists, Fibi Fawehimi and Eugene Maeba said there was a plot to gag the media.
Recall that the 52-year-old Kemi Olulonyo has been in detention for more than one week over a charge that is bailable.

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, May 9, remanded a politician identified as Charles Eni-Umukoro over the murder of his wife, Louisa Eni-Umukoro, who was a director in the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Justice Mary-Anne Aninih ordered the remand of Eni-Umukoro in Kuje Prison, FCT pending the hearing of his bail application. The Inspector General of Police (IGP) in February charged Umukoro with culpable homicide, which is punishable with death under Section 221 of the Penal Code. The defendant however denied the allegation. Amilcar Henriquez shot dead in his Panama home . Police in Panama say national team soccer player Amilcar Henriquez has been shot dead while leaving his home. The press chief for Panama’s National Police says the killing happened Saturday in the country’s Colon province. Authorities say a gunman shot the 33-year-old midfielder several times. Another two people were wounded. The player died at a nearby hospital. President Juan Carlos Varela has condemned the killing on his Twitter account. He is calling for authorities in Colon to find those responsible. Henriquez was part of the Panama team that is trying to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. A Nigerian cleric is demanding for justice on behalf of his son who was allegedly murdered by security operatives while in custody. A Nigerian pastor, Pastor Gabriel Atansuyi, has begged for justice after alleging that the Nigeria Police are trying to cover up the death of his gospel artist son, Ifedolapo.
