NIGERIANS STRANDED IN LIBYA RETURN HOME,ARRIVE MMIA LAGOS,SEE PHOTOS

A total of 162 Nigerians stranded in the Islamic Republic of Libya were returned back home today and received by the National Emergency Management Agency along with the office of the Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Matters.

A chartered flight that brought the returnees arrived the cargo wing of Murtala Mohammed International Airport where they were officially received at about 4pm.

Director General of NEMA was represented by the Deputy Director Search and Rescue Dr Onimode while the Special Assistant to the President Hon Abike Dabiri was represented by Mr Abdulrahman Balogun.

Breakdown of the returnees as given by Dr Onimode shows that 61 of them were males and 101 females. He further explained that among the males were 2 children and 7 infants while the females had 7 children and 2 infants.

He also said that the return of the stranded Nigerians was facilitated by the International Organization for Migration as on arrival, they were profiled, fed and assisted back to their various towns and homes.

If you are not A beer binge by two airmen ended tragically in Kwekwe last week when one of them went berserk and murdered his colleague for allegedly stealing a six-pack of Golden Pilsener. Kelvin Nhete, an Air Force of Zimbabwe officer based at Air Defence Regiment in Redcliff, fatally assaulted his colleague, Phillip Muhenyeri, whom he accused of stealing the six-pack, while they were drinking at a night club in Old Mbizo. Nhete (29) appeared before Kwekwe resident magistrate Mr Philemon Livard charged with murder. He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to September 9. He was advised to apply to the High Court for bail consideration. Court Adjourns Hearing on NNPC GMD’s Fundamental Rights Suit to March 14 March 10th, 2017 ANDREW YAKUBU The suit by the former Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Andrew Yakubu, challenging his continued detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), over allegations of corruption has been adjourned to March 14 for continuation of hearing. Yakubu is presently under the custody of the EFCC over the sum of $9, 772,800 and another £74,000 found in his Kaduna residence. He is also said to be under investigation in connection with several cases of corruption brought against him while he held sway as the NNPC boss.
