White House confirms telephone conversation with Buhari

President Donald Trump of the United States of America, Tuesday confirmed his telephone conversation with President Muhammadu Buhari.

               The White House Press Secretary and Communications Director, Sean Michael Spicer in his introduction of Tuesday’s White House Press Briefing, mentioned that President Trump spoke with President Buhari of Nigeria and Jacob Zuma of South Africa as well as receiving the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau on Monday.
              Recall that President Buhari, Monday afternoon from the United Kingdom spoke to American President Donald Trump on telephone at the request of the latter.
According to President Buhari’s spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina, the conversation was cordial and President Buhari congratulated Trump on his election as president of the United States and on his cabinet.
           He said both leaders discussed ways to improve cooperation in the fight against terrorism through provision of necessary equipment.He said Trump also commended Buhari for the efforts made in rescuing 24 of the Chibok Girls and the efforts of the Nigerian military.

          Recall that human rights group, International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law (Intersociety), had advised Nigerians not to believe the reported conversation until the US confirms it,well?

The Nigerian Air Force has sentenced to death by hanging Airman Kalu Bernard, for killing his lover, Solape Oladipupo, aka Shomzy Shomzy, on March 12, 2017. The judgment, which started at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, dragged till 4 p.m. when it was stood down before the panelists reconvened at 7:30 p.m. Reading out the 70-page court findings, which lasted for about two hours, the Judge Advocate, Flight Lieutenant M.A. Umoh, listed the eight-count charges against 21-year-old Kalu to include murder, house breaking, impersonation, attempted murder, among others. The defense counsel, Abimiku Ewuga, urged the court to temper justice with mercy, saying the accused was his family breadwinner. The President of the court, Gp. Capt. Elisha Bindul, who found the accused guilty in six out of the eight counts, sentenced him to death by hanging, subject to the confirmation of the conveying authority.Ewuga later told reporters that he would appeal the judgment. Youths and traders protest customs invasion of rice warehouse Feb 23rd 2017; Some youths and traders have brought activities and vehicular movement on the ever busy Lagos-Abeokuta expressway to a halt, following a protest over alleged invasion of the rice market by men of the Nigerian Customs Service.The protest which was said to have lasted for hours, took the intervention of the Sango Ota Police Area Commander, Adegoke Fayoade, to restore normalcy to the area. Meanwhile, the Customs Public Relations Officer, Federal Operation Unit, Jerry Attah, dismissed the claims of market invasion, explaining that men of the command on surveillance noticed smugglers were moving rice in bulk on motorcycles from a canoe to a store in the area.
