Commotion as Three People Die After Drinking Palm Wine Mixed with Concoction in Ondo State

A birthday party has turned out awful leaving three persons dead after they consumed palm wine mixed with concoction.

Three people have dropped dead after they reportedly drank palm wine mixed with a concoction at Ilepa Quarters in Ikare Akoko, the headquarters of the Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State on Saturday.
The victims were said to have taken the palm wine in the house of a friend of theirs, identified as Azeez who allegedly prepared the drink while celebrating his birthday.A source narrated that the palm wine allegedly contained some substances called gegemu and maladol. The substances were reportedly mixed with the palm wine in order to intoxicate the consumers. 
The source said two of the victims died on Sunday while the third person died on Tuesday.Apart from the deceased, some of the guests who took the palm wine at the birthday party reportedly landed in hospitals as a result of stomach pain.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, Femi Joseph, identified one of the victims as Kazeem Ogungbemi.
He said, “We can confirm the incident, the boys went to a party organised by one of their friends where they drank recklessly. We discovered that the drink they had was mixed with many substances.“The person who served the palm wine has run away and we are still looking for him.”The PPRO noted that the command had commenced investigation on the incident.

About a year ago, maybe two, police believe a DeKalb County man in his mid-forties died at home.
