 Following the shocking story of a little toddler being raped in Kano, the wife of the President and the Emir of Kano have paid a visit to the innocent victim.

 The wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, and the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, on Saturday, condemned the rape of a six-month-old baby, stressing that the culprit must be made to face the music.

 The infant, who is now eight months old, was allegedly violated by 30-year-old Muktakar Muhammad, assisted by his wife.

 Mrs. Buhari, who paid the baby a visit at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano State, described the rape case as man’s inhumanity to man.

 She also commended the Kano State Government for taking measures to save the life of the minor.

 The Emir of Kano, who visited the hospital earlier, urged security agencies and the state government to ensure that the culprits were brought to book.

 The monarch consoled the parents of the baby and promised that the Emirate Council would do its best to ensure the welfare of the child and her parents.

 The Kano State Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, in a statement, said the state government had vowed to get justice for the baby.

 Garba said, “We are deeply saddened by a story of a six-month old baby girl, allegedly raped by a close confidant in Kano. The government of Kano says it will make whoever is found guilty the first to pay the supreme price of life imprisonment.

 “Already, (Governor Abdullahi) Ganduje has directed the state Ministry of Justice to handle the matter properly by ensuring that it is delivered to the letter.

 “Whoever is involved in this sordid sexual crime will be prosecuted under the relevant provision contained in the Kano State Penal Code Amendment Law, referred to as the ‘Principal Law’ as amended under section 283.”

 The state government assured the baby’s parents and sympathisers that appropriate legal action would be taken, while promising that the state would bear the cost of the victim’s medical treatment.

Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos have intercepted a 54- year- old single mother of four children. She was going on pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia with substances that tested positive for cocaine. The suspect who hails from Kwara State was apprehended during the outward screening of passengers on a Qatar Airline flight to Saudi Arabia after testing positive to drug ingestion. Preliminary investigation revealed that she ingested 32 wraps of substances that tested positive for cocaine weighing 330 grammes. The suspect who hawks tea and bread to earn a living in Lagos was found to have collected N300,000 to smuggle drugs to Saudi under the pretext of going for pilgrimage. PHOTO OF THE DECEASED BEEN TAKEN AWAY An Assistant Superintendent of Customs has allegedly committed suicide in Lungu Village, Gwarinpa, Abuja. The cause of the suicide was yet to be ascertained. Sources said the man, identified as Christian, 44, locked himself in a room and hung himself with a rope on Saturday. A source said the deceased, who was unmarried, was staying with his brother and was said to have been recently transferred to Lagos before the incident happened. The Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, said the brother whom the deceased stayed with was at a barber’s shop when the incident happened. TERRORIST LEADER SHEKAU An “alarming” number of children, most of them girls, have been used by Boko Haram as suicide bombers in the first months of 2017, UNICEF said Wednesday. Experts said the number of children used in suicide attacks by Boko Haram surged to 27 in the first quarter of this year, compared to nine over the same period in 2016. POSTMORTEMS TO BE CARRIED OUT ON BODIES OF CANADIAN-AMERICAN COUPLE

By BBN Staff: Yesterday, the bodies of the missing Canadian-American couple were discovered near a cane field in Chan Chen village in the Corozal district. Reports to BBN is that an on site post-mortem examination is being conducted on the bodies at this time. According to these reports, the bodies are in an advanced state of decomposition. Canadian national, Francesca Matus, 52, and her boyfriend, American national, Drew Devoursney, 36, were last seen on Tuesday night leaving a bar in Corozal town. Matus was to fly to Canada, Wednesday morning. A friend who was to take Matus to the airport, American national Joseph Milholen, reported to police that he called her several times but to no avail. Milholen also called Devoursney but received no response. Police and volunteers had organized search parties from Wednesday through to Monday. Gunmen suspected to be militants on Thursday morning invaded Lagos State Model College, Igbo Nla, Epe, Lagos, abducting the principals and some students. The kidnappers were said to have stormed the school in the early hours when the students were at the morning assembly. The gunmen abducted the principal of the junior secondary school, Mr. Oyesola and Mr. Akirinmade who is the Principal of the senior secondary school. They also abducted some of the students.
