MAN GETS PAID RANSOME FOR OWN FATHER'S KIDNAP

An unidentified man and his accomplices were arrested on Wednesday by the Oyo state police command for allegedly being a part of his father's kidnap.

According to online sources, it was gathered that the suspect and his gang received the sum of N1 million from the ransom collected.

The state's commissioner of police, Abiodun Adekunle Odude revealed that the kidnap took place at Igboora in Ibarapa area of the state, around 6pm, May 17.

"The suspect said he got a share of less than N1 million in the ransom collected although he confessed that his father never offended him," he added.

An attempt by a mother of two children to smuggle a phone to her boyfriend in prison custody has been foiled by the officials of the Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The 33-year-old woman, Fatima Balogun who has been arrested by men of the Special Intelligence Unit of the NPS, carried out the action on Wednesday at the gate lodge of Abeokuta maximum Prisons in Ibara. The suspect confessed that she hid the phone which she bought for her boyfriend identified as Ganiyu Ajibode, in the cooler of soup from the Prisons officials. A Minna Chief Magistrates’ Court has granted bail to a housewife, Eucharia Mba, who was earlier apprehended by the police for allegedly selling her four-month-old baby for N605,000. Mba was arrested alongside Bright Ahuruezeanya of Chanchaga area of Minna and one Peter Ani. The defendants are facing three counts bordering on criminal conspiracy, buying and selling of a minor. The offence contravened sections 79 and 278 of the Penal Code Law. According to the police First Information Report, one Mr. John of Mechanic Junction in Chanchaga, had sometime in September, 2017 reported to the police that Amaka Bright of the same address with Bright Ahuruezeanya conspired with his wife Eucharia and sold his four-month-old baby boy. It was alleged that Eucharia and the other two accused persons left for Enugu State where they sold the baby to one Mr. Ani for N605,000.
