2017 "FELABRATION" TAGGED "THE PROPHECY" TO HOLD OCTOBER

The annual festival in celebration of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti, 'Felabration', will hold on 9 October.

Felabration is an annual festival which brings Nigerians from all walks of life together to celebrate the life of the late Afrobeat legend.

The annual festival, marked on Fela's birthday since his death in 1997, is themed "The Prophecy".

This year's edition also marks the 20th anniversary of Fela's death.

The festival, which holds for a week, attracts thousands of Afro beat lovers and visitors from around the world to the New Africa Shrine.

Fela's daughter Yeni Kuti instituted the Felabration festival.

The festival will feature musical performances, art competition, Afrobeat Talent Hunt, Fela Debates, Symposium, Secondary Schools Debate and the Felabration Carnival.

It has over the years attracted many high class musical acts around the world.

With performance from the likes of Fela's first son,Femi Kuti, Awilo Longomba, Les Nubians, 2Baba, Asa, Lagbaja, Hugh Masakela, Baba Maal among others.

2 TERRORIST COMMANDERS SURRENDER SELVES TO POLICE

The Borno State Police Command said on Wednesday that as a result of "Operation Safe Corridor," the counter-terrorism effort of the Nigerian military, two high profile commanders of the Boko Haram militant group have surrendered, along with their families. In a statement to newsmen in Maiduguri by its public relations officer, DSP Victor Isuku, the command said that 13 civilians were also rescued from suspected kidnappers, with two of the hoodlums dying of injuries received in a gun battle with the police.
