2017 "FELABRATION" TAGGED "THE PROPHECY" TO HOLD OCTOBER

The annual festival in celebration of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti, 'Felabration', will hold on 9 October.

Felabration is an annual festival which brings Nigerians from all walks of life together to celebrate the life of the late Afrobeat legend.

The annual festival, marked on Fela's birthday since his death in 1997, is themed "The Prophecy".

This year's edition also marks the 20th anniversary of Fela's death.

The festival, which holds for a week, attracts thousands of Afro beat lovers and visitors from around the world to the New Africa Shrine.

Fela's daughter Yeni Kuti instituted the Felabration festival.

The festival will feature musical performances, art competition, Afrobeat Talent Hunt, Fela Debates, Symposium, Secondary Schools Debate and the Felabration Carnival.

It has over the years attracted many high class musical acts around the world.

With performance from the likes of Fela's first son,Femi Kuti, Awilo Longomba, Les Nubians, 2Baba, Asa, Lagbaja, Hugh Masakela, Baba Maal among others.

Suspected Internet fraudsters, popularly called Yahoo boys , have turned the Facebook page of the Special Fraud Unit of the Nigeria Police Force into an avenue to advertise their skills. The suspects, through a series of comments, demanded between N5,000 and N50,000 from those who wanted to learn classified sites for defrauding people, especially foreigners, and offered options of online, as well as physical teaching platforms. Hundreds of persons, including students, graduates and ladies, indicated interest in learning the skills for making quick money and provided their mobile numbers on the SFU Facebook page. The comments were reactions to a post by the SFU sensitising the public to Internet fraud. Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos have intercepted a 54- year- old single mother of four children. She was going on pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia with substances that tested positive for cocaine. The suspect who hails from Kwara State was apprehended during the outward screening of passengers on a Qatar Airline flight to Saudi Arabia after testing positive to drug ingestion. Preliminary investigation revealed that she ingested 32 wraps of substances that tested positive for cocaine weighing 330 grammes. The suspect who hawks tea and bread to earn a living in Lagos was found to have collected N300,000 to smuggle drugs to Saudi under the pretext of going for pilgrimage.
