2017 "FELABRATION" TAGGED "THE PROPHECY" TO HOLD OCTOBER

The annual festival in celebration of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti, 'Felabration', will hold on 9 October.

Felabration is an annual festival which brings Nigerians from all walks of life together to celebrate the life of the late Afrobeat legend.

The annual festival, marked on Fela's birthday since his death in 1997, is themed "The Prophecy".

This year's edition also marks the 20th anniversary of Fela's death.

The festival, which holds for a week, attracts thousands of Afro beat lovers and visitors from around the world to the New Africa Shrine.

Fela's daughter Yeni Kuti instituted the Felabration festival.

The festival will feature musical performances, art competition, Afrobeat Talent Hunt, Fela Debates, Symposium, Secondary Schools Debate and the Felabration Carnival.

It has over the years attracted many high class musical acts around the world.

With performance from the likes of Fela's first son,Femi Kuti, Awilo Longomba, Les Nubians, 2Baba, Asa, Lagbaja, Hugh Masakela, Baba Maal among others.

After weeks of intensive manhunt, the Lagos state police command has arrested one Ismaila Adeyemi, 49, the suspected mastermind and killer of Hector Jobateh (the 2007 winner of Gulder Ultimate search) who was traced and shot dead at his residence at New Oko-Oba in Agege, Lagos State. The suspect who was arrested at gas line Ominiyi in Ijoko area of Ogun state, confessed to the crime and other numerous crimes, while other members of his gang have been arrested. A chef, Godwin Obot, 40, was arraigned in Lagos on Wednesday for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s eight-year-old daughter after luring the girl into his room with soft drink. The accused was brought before a Tinubu Chief Magistrates’ Court, charged with defilement of a minor.  Obot, however, pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum. The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Kikelomo Ayeye, directed that Obot must provide two sureties, one of whom should be a community leader. Ayeye said the other surety should be a civil servant on grade level 16.  She said the accused should be remanded in prison if he failed to meet the bail conditions. The Prosecutor, Insp.
