2017 "FELABRATION" TAGGED "THE PROPHECY" TO HOLD OCTOBER

The annual festival in celebration of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti, 'Felabration', will hold on 9 October.

Felabration is an annual festival which brings Nigerians from all walks of life together to celebrate the life of the late Afrobeat legend.

The annual festival, marked on Fela's birthday since his death in 1997, is themed "The Prophecy".

This year's edition also marks the 20th anniversary of Fela's death.

The festival, which holds for a week, attracts thousands of Afro beat lovers and visitors from around the world to the New Africa Shrine.

Fela's daughter Yeni Kuti instituted the Felabration festival.

The festival will feature musical performances, art competition, Afrobeat Talent Hunt, Fela Debates, Symposium, Secondary Schools Debate and the Felabration Carnival.

It has over the years attracted many high class musical acts around the world.

With performance from the likes of Fela's first son,Femi Kuti, Awilo Longomba, Les Nubians, 2Baba, Asa, Lagbaja, Hugh Masakela, Baba Maal among others.

The Benue State government has denied the reports alleging that the consignments containing snakes intercepted by the Nigeria Customs in Calabar belongs to Governor Samuel Ortom. It described it as another desperate smear campaign by members of the opposition. A teenage father with a tattoo covering half his face saying DEVAST8 has cried out over his struggle to get a job. 19 year old Mark Cropp , who was recently released from prison, put a plea out on Facebook saying his facial tattoo was stopping him securing employment. He also said his tattoo which is not gang affiliated- wasn 't planned and was not supposed to be quite as big. He got it a number of months ago while in prison serving a two year and three month sentence in the Otago Correction Facility for aggravated robbery, the NZ Herald reports. The half-brother of North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un was carrying an antidote to the poison which killed him at the time of his death, Malaysian state media reported. Malaysia's High Court heard this week Kim Jong Nam had 12 doses of atropine in his sling bag when he was allegedly swabbed with VX nerve agent in Kuala Lumpur International Airport on February 13, news agency Bernama said. Defense lawyer Hisyam Abdullah also confirmed the report to CNN. Abdullah said K. Sharmilah, a government toxicologist, told the court Wednesday she examined the drug along with several other samples provided by police. Kenneth Manzanares attacked his wife, Kristy, inside their cabin aboard the Emerald Princess cruise ship Tuesday night, according to an affidavit filed Wednesday in Alaska federal court.
