The police command in Imo State on Monday paraded members of a syndicate that specialised in stealing and selling children. The state Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike said the gang members operated in Imo and Enugu states and had committed many atrocities. Ezike said Obinna Eze, Oluchi Chibuike,Vitalis Lumanze, Nkiru Nwanedu, Chinyere Nwudu and one Jacinta, were arrested by the police for allegedly kidnapping and selling a five-year-old boy, Francis Nwachukwu and his two-year-old sibling, Chinaza Nwachukwu, for N1.1m. "On August 29, 2017, Oluchi Chibuike, the cousin of one Abigail Uka, came to Uzoagba, in the Ikeduru LGA of Imo State, in company with one Obinna Eze, who Oluchi said was her intended husband. Their mission was to take Abigail and her two children to visit Obinna's house at Afara, in the Mbaitoli LGA", Ezike said. Former President Goodluck Jonathan has asked a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to order former national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, to deposit N1billion with the court to cover for his travelling expenses before he can testify in his case. Jonathan also asked the court to set aside the subpoena ordered to be served on him by the court to come and testify in the corruption suit against Metuh. The federal government is prosecuting Metuh and his company over alleged N400 million fraud. The money was alleged to be part of the funds meant for the purchase of arms to fight Boko Haram insurgents. Last week, Justice Okon Abang granted Metuh's request to summon Jonathan and a former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), to appear before it as witnesses. An attempt by a mother of two children to smuggle a phone to her boyfriend in prison custody has been foiled by the officials of the Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The 33-year-old woman, Fatima Balogun who has been arrested by men of the Special Intelligence Unit of the NPS, carried out the action on Wednesday at the gate lodge of Abeokuta maximum Prisons in Ibara. The former manager of a Shelton restaurant is accused of sexually harassing employees and touching them inappropriately. Police started the investigation in March 2016 when three female employees of Dee's Kitchen at 509 Howe Ave. in Shelton went to police to report that 58-year-old Bryan Stockbridge, of Ansonia, was sexually harassing them and had touched them inappropriately on several occasions. Detectives quickly obtained an arrest warrant, but they could not apprehend him, police said. They then obtained information that Stockbridge fled to California after an interview with detectives. Shelton police obtained information today that Stockbridge was back in Connecticut, living in Ansonia, and they took him into custody. Stockbridge has been charged with three counts of fourth-degree sexual assault. He posted a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Derby Superior Court tomorrow.

45-year-old Nigerian man Paul Gabriel Amos, who had previously been charged in a United States court for swindling Citibank was charged in a district court, Singapore on Wednesday, October 25 with laundering S$1.7 million. On October last year, Amos went viral after he was arrested for reckless and dangerous driving. Amos, who is a Permanent Resident in Singapore and married to a citizen, also faces eight charges under the Corruption, Drug Trafficking and Other Serious Crimes (Confiscation of Benefits) Act. Amos was prosecuted in a New York district court in 2009 for committing bank and wire fraud, according to a The New York Times report.
