LOVER KILLS GIRLFRIEND ON SUSPICION OF INFIDELITY

A 40-year-old man, Stephen Akpata, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend, Onyinye Faustina Eze, to death at the Kpansia suburb of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

Briefing newsmen at the headquarters of the Bayelsa Police Command in Yenagoa, the state Police Commissioner, Asuquo Amba, said the suspect, who fled to Gbana last month after committing the crime, was apprehended two weeks later in Lagos by security operatives on his trail.

According to the Police Commissioner, the suspect confessed to the Police that he made love to the deceased for an hour and shortly after he saw a message on her phone and suspected her of infidelity.

He became angry, an argument ensued and he stabbed her on the neck and on the shoulder.

Amba said: "On August 16, at 2p.m., Moses Awo reported at Ekeki Police Division that one Onyinye Faustina Eze, 33, a colleague, did not report to work as expected.

"He took someone along and went to her house located behind Fido Water Company, Kpansia. They found the apartment locked, while the television in the room was on and sounding loudly.

"A team of policemen went to the house, forced her door open and found her lying dead in a pool of blood.

"Marks of violence on the deceased's head, face, neck and body revealed that she was strangled with a pressing iron's cord and stabbed. The body was deposited at Federal Medi-cal Centre for autopsy."
