Ex-Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has apparently dumped the National Super Alliance (NASA) and joined the Jubilee party ahead of the October 17 repeat polls.
On Friday, September 8, Ruto was at Kaptatet stadium in Kericho with Deputy President William Ruto as they waited for President Uhuru Kenyatta to touch down ahead of a planned rally. The former NASA principal was seen all smiles with the deputy president amid claims he had ditched the opposition for Jubilee.
Uhuru was also seen warmly shaking Ruto's hand, an indication he was welcoming him to Jubilee.
He is set to be unveiled at the Kapkatet stadium during a Jubilee rally.
This comes days after Ruto denied that he had cut ties with Raila Odinga's camp.
Speaking to a local TV station, the former Chepalungu MP said he is in NASA to stay.
His defection comes a day after Wiper Secretary General Hassan Omar resigned from his post and said he will not campaign for Raila's presidential bid.
Ruto's position is likely to be filled by ex-Meru Governor Peter Munya who cut ties with Jubilee party and joined NASA.
Munya said he cannot dine with people who stole his victory in the August 8 polls. He lost to Jubilee's Kiraitu Murungi.
Big win for NASA's supporters
