20 COPS SANCTIONED ON CORRUPTION CHARGES

The Nigeria Police Force , says it has sanctioned 20 personnel involved in corruption between Jan. 2016 and Jun . 2017 in four states.

A report obtained from the Public Complaints Rapid Response Unit by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN ) indicated that those sanctioned served in Enugu , Abuja, Ogun and Lagos commands.

It indicated that 10 policemen were dismissed during the period , one given severe reprimand , one demoted , and eight given other forms of punishment .
The report showed that 4 , 342 complaints were received by the unit during the period under review , out of which 3 , 602 were amicably resolved and 318 pending.

It added that 422 complaints received by the unit were discovered to be false .
According to the report , the 106 distress calls received by the unit during the period under review were not part of the complaints captured in the report.

The unit was established in November 2015 to receive and resolve cases of professional misconduct brought against police personnel.

Saudi police shoot dead IS suspect MARCH 8TH 2017,          Police in Saudi Arabia said Wednesday they shot dead a member of the Islamic State group in the capital, the latest suspected jihadist to be killed by security forces. Officers were called at 6:00 pm (1500 GMT) on Tuesday to an apartment in Riyadh’s Al-Rayan district where the suspect was “flaunting his support” for the extremist group, the interior ministry said in a statement.         “He started to resist and waved a gun which he was carrying,” forcing police to eliminate “the threat he posed,” the ministry added. Ghanaian Reggae musician Ekow Micah has stood his ground regarding his stance for smoking "wee". Micah referred to the Holy Bible and cited an instance where God smoked marijuana popularly known as "wee" In an interview with Akwasi Aboagye on Peace FM's "Entertainment Review", Ekow Micah said he smokes because the almighty God smoked. He quoted Psalm 18:7-8 to buttress his point. "The earth trembled and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains shook; they trembled because he was angry. Smoke rose from his nostrils; consuming fire came from his mouth, burning coals blazed out of it". This news comes after dancehall artist Samini admitted to also consuming the illegal narcotic in the comfort of his home. Ekow Micah was arrested, charged and put on trial for possessing illegal wee. He was later acquitted and discharged by an Accra Circuit Court.

ARMY GENERAL,7 OTHERS KILLED IN BENUE COMMUNITY VIOLENCE

No fewer that eight persons, including one Major General Lawrence Ugbo have been reportedly killed and several others injured in Ugboju community, Otukpo LGA of Benue State. The Nation gathered that the incident which broke out Wednesday morning has rendered many persons homeless. A resident, Peter Ogaba told The Nation that fighting broke out in the community after some boys from Ugboju allegedly attacked a group of persons loyal to a former Chairman of Otukpo. It was gathered that the former council boss was in the village with his loyalists when another group believed to be his rival launched an attack on them, injuring many persons. In a reprisal attack, the politician went back and teamed up with his boys who reportedly stormed the community, killing anybody on sight.They reportedly killed a retired Major General Lawrence Ugbo and burnt his corpse. MAN KILLS MOTORCYCLIST TO ROB HIM OF CYCLE

         A man has killed a commercial motorcyclist, Maniru Yusufu, in the Illela Local Government Area of Sokoto State and robbed him of his motorcycle.          Yusufu was said to have taken the man, who is still at large, to Kauyen Bayan Masallata, a village in Niger Republic, bordering the state.          His decomposing body was found around the border three days after his family declared him missing.          Punch reports that the police said they could not do anything about the murder since it happened withing Niger Republic.          The body was later buried with the district head of Illela, village and ward heads in the area in attendance.

MAN STABBED REPEATEDLY BY INTRUDERS WHO FORCED THEIR WAY INTO FLAT

Location of attack The attack happened in a flat above this shop shortly after 6pm last night. A man was stabbed repeatedly after a gang forced their way into a flat in Blackley . Police say two vehicles pulled up outside the premises in Victoria Avenue at about 6.30pm last night. A number of offenders got into the flat which is close to a flower shop - Avenue Flowers. NIGERIAN ARRESTED WITH 90 CAPSULES OF COCAINE AT INDIAN AIRPORT

Tony Okonkwoh,a Nigerian has been arrested in India after drugs in capsules alleged to be cocaine were found on him.The Delhi zonal unit of Narcotics Control Bureau intercepted Tony after he had swallowed 90 capsules of cocaine, weighing around 1.3 kg. He was intercepted on the 6th of February by a team of NCB operatives during passenger profiling. He arrived at the Indhira Gandhi International Airport that morning. During the course of interrogation, the man feigned ignorance about the presence of drugs and told the team that he visited India for business purposes. The fellow was taken to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital where doctors confirmed the presence of foreign bodies in his stomach. He was kept in the hospital for two days during which he excreted 90 Capsules containing 1.3 kg cocaine.The man accepted that he ingested drug capsules from Lagos Nigeria and that it took him good three hours to do it.
