POLICE INSPECTOR MOBBED TO DEATH FOR SHOOTING PASSENGER

The Police Command in Adamawa State has confirmed that a mob killed a police inspector on Thursday along the Wuro-Dole-Pariya Road in Girei Local Government area of the state.
The command’s Spokesman, SP Othman Abubakar, said the incident occurred following a misunderstanding between some passengers and a routine patrol team along the road.
 
Abubakar who did not give details of the “misunderstanding” simply said that it led to the deceased opening fire which resulted in the killing of the passenger.
 
He said the late inspector was mobbed to death, adding that the police had recovered his corpse and gun with eight rounds of live ammunition.
 
An eyewitness, who simply identified himself as Sadiq, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the incident followed a disagreement over a N50 bribe.
 
According to him, the driver of the vehicle in which the late passenger was travelling in offered a N50 bribe to the policemen but they insisted on collecting N100.
 
He said that a passenger challenged them and that led to a hot argument and the shooting of the passenger and injuring of another by the inspector.
“Angry about what happened, a mob attacked the inspector who was trying to escape and lynched him,” Sadiq said

Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos have intercepted a 54- year- old single mother of four children. She was going on pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia with substances that tested positive for cocaine. The suspect who hails from Kwara State was apprehended during the outward screening of passengers on a Qatar Airline flight to Saudi Arabia after testing positive to drug ingestion. Preliminary investigation revealed that she ingested 32 wraps of substances that tested positive for cocaine weighing 330 grammes. The suspect who hawks tea and bread to earn a living in Lagos was found to have collected N300,000 to smuggle drugs to Saudi under the pretext of going for pilgrimage. PHOTO OF THE DECEASED BEEN TAKEN AWAY An Assistant Superintendent of Customs has allegedly committed suicide in Lungu Village, Gwarinpa, Abuja. The cause of the suicide was yet to be ascertained. Sources said the man, identified as Christian, 44, locked himself in a room and hung himself with a rope on Saturday. A source said the deceased, who was unmarried, was staying with his brother and was said to have been recently transferred to Lagos before the incident happened. The Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, said the brother whom the deceased stayed with was at a barber’s shop when the incident happened. POSTMORTEMS TO BE CARRIED OUT ON BODIES OF CANADIAN-AMERICAN COUPLE

By BBN Staff: Yesterday, the bodies of the missing Canadian-American couple were discovered near a cane field in Chan Chen village in the Corozal district. Reports to BBN is that an on site post-mortem examination is being conducted on the bodies at this time. According to these reports, the bodies are in an advanced state of decomposition. Canadian national, Francesca Matus, 52, and her boyfriend, American national, Drew Devoursney, 36, were last seen on Tuesday night leaving a bar in Corozal town. Matus was to fly to Canada, Wednesday morning. A friend who was to take Matus to the airport, American national Joseph Milholen, reported to police that he called her several times but to no avail. Milholen also called Devoursney but received no response. Police and volunteers had organized search parties from Wednesday through to Monday.
