LAGOS POLICE VOWS TO STOP PROTEST

The Lagos State Police Commissioner Fatai Owoseni has vowed to stop Tuface's planned protest against the Federal Government slated for February 5 in the state.
Tuface Idibia had announced a nationwide protest in order to draw the attention of the government to the sufferings of Nigerians under this administration.
But Lagos COMPOL Owoseni who had earlier stated that there was no official request from the protesters notifying security agencies of their plan said on Wednesday that intelligence report indicated that criminals might hijack the process and that the police wasn’t ready for that kind of demonstration and as such would not allow it to hold.
“We know that Tuface does not have the capacity to contain such a crowd and we will not fold our hands and watch while things go out of hand.
“The Civil Society had said that they do not need police permission to carry out any peaceful protest but they should also be aware that there might be those who share an opposing view. This set of persons may want to disrupt the peaceful demonstration and would want to attack demonstrators,hence we advise individuals or group of persons who may wish to embark on civil demonstration to inform the police so that adequate security arrangement would be provided.”

NIGERIAN ARMY AND POLICE CLASH BLOODY,4 DIE

A bloody clash between the army and police in Nigeria's restive northeastern Yobe state on Wednesday left one soldier and three police dead, a security source told AFP.  The police confirmed the fracas in the state capital of Damaturu, but did not say if there were casualties.  "The Nigeria police force is abreast of the unfortunate incident that occurred in the early hours of today 12th April, 2017 in Damaturu between the personnel of the force and that of the Nigerian army," police spokesman Jimoh Moshood said in a statement.  He said an investigation had been launched to determine "the causes of the incident and deal with the situation appropriately to prevent such occurrence in the future".  The army authorities were not immediately available for comment. MAN IN CUSTODY FOR ASSAULT ON PREGNANT WOMAN February 22, 2017; An Osun Magistrate Court sitting in Ile-Ife has docked one Dayo Adebayo, 29, for alleged assault on a pregnant woman.   The prosecutor, Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on February 13, around 11:45 pm at Ehindi Street, Ile-Ife.Osanyintuyi, said Adebayo assaulted the woman named Blessing Monday, by hitting her with his fist across her face, causing various injuries.He added that the offence was contrary to and punishable under section 356 of the Criminal Code (Cap 34 Vol 11), Laws of Osun, 2002.
