It has been confirmed by the Senate that acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu will defend the agency’s budget amid corruption allegations against him,this was stated by Chairman, Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes, Senator Chukwuka Utazi who said the committee would maintain the status quo by inviting Magu to defend the 2017 budget estimate of the EFCC as acting chairman of the agency.
“We are going to maintain the status quo, we are going to invite everyone,we are going to invite the acting Chairman of EFCC,Magu; he is still the acting Chairman of EFCC.
“Until he is removed,we will invite him for the budget defence and at the moment,he has not been removed.
“A letter was written to the Senate by President Buhari on Magu,a decision has not been taken on him and it was not referred to any committee or my committee for further actions,the letter was not even discussed and no decision was taken on it,it is not administrative,there must be resolution or reference to any committee in the Senate before actions are carried out.We will invite him for budget defence,”Vanguard quoted Utazi as saying.

A young teenage couple accused of snatching their newborn baby from hospital have been briefly reunited with their daughter after five days apart. Jayden Lavender, 14, and fiancée Jenifer Morrison, 15, smuggled three-day-old Aria out of the hospital in Sydney at 12.30am on Thursday. Their disappearance sparked a huge search before the pair were found safe and well 16 hours later after spending a night camping with the infant. The teens were briefly reunited with their baby girl on Tuesday amid the family's fears they would never see her again. Jayden and Jenifer said they hid Aria under a blanket and left Nepean Hospital in the middle of the night because they feared their baby would be taken into care by social services. 2 TERRORIST COMMANDERS SURRENDER SELVES TO POLICE

The Borno State Police Command said on Wednesday that as a result of "Operation Safe Corridor," the counter-terrorism effort of the Nigerian military, two high profile commanders of the Boko Haram militant group have surrendered, along with their families. In a statement to newsmen in Maiduguri by its public relations officer, DSP Victor Isuku, the command said that 13 civilians were also rescued from suspected kidnappers, with two of the hoodlums dying of injuries received in a gun battle with the police. Two AK-47 rifles were also recovered. North Korea's diplomatic presence in the emirate will also be reduced to a charge d'affaires and three diplomats, the source told AFP, requesting anonymity. Unknown Gunmen Kill University Student, Watchman In Jigawa. 17th Feb 2017, A 27-year-old university student, Muhammad Garzali, was killed by unidentified assailants at Kafinhausa town of Kafinhausa Local Government Area of Jigawa. Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Abdu Jinjiri, an ASP, said that Garzali was murdered alongside a 60-year-old watchman, Ali Dan-Katsina, at a motor park in the area.
