Appeal Court sacks APC Lawmaker

The Court of Appeal sitting in Benin City has sacked the lawmaker representing Ovia South West Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Sunday Aghedo.
 It ordered Mr. Godwin Adenomo, a member of the All Progressive Congress, to be sworn in immediately.
 Adenomo had dragged the APC and the Committee that conducted the party primaries to court over imposition of the sacked lawmaker as the winner of the party primaries to the State House of Assembly in 2014.
He claimed he won the primaries but was denied the party’s ticket which was given to his opponent.
 A judgement of the High Court asked the APC to conduct a fresh primary for the position but Adenomo rejected the ruling and headed for the appellate court to get proper judgment.
Reacting to the judgment, the sacked lawmakers said he was already consulting with his lawyers.
His words, “I have no reaction. I am still consulting with my lawyers on what to do next.”

Two Seattle police officers were shot Thursday while responding to a robbery at a 7-Eleven, according to the city's police department. The two officers, one male and one female, were brought to the Harborview Medical Center. The hospital tweeted that the male officer was upgraded to serious but stable condition, and that the female officer remained in satisfactory condition. Tragedy as Mechanic in Lagos Kills Sales Boy in Broad Daylight 10/02/2017 The police in Lagos State have launched a manhunt for a mechanic, Fatai Bashiru, for allegedly killing a sales boy, Shedrach Emenike, aka Chiboy, in the Papa Ajao, Mushin area of the state. Punch Metro learnt that Bashiru stabbed the 23-year-old in the armpit and other parts of his body for allegedly scratching a car belonging to his customer. GUNMEN KILL NSCDC OFFICER IN EKITI

An officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ekiti State, Sunday Afolabi, was shot dead on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, by gunmen. A source at the command of NSCDC, who spoke in confidence, said Afolabi was killed on Afao Road at 3.30 p.m. The late officer was killed barely one month after his wife was delivered of their first baby. But the police said Afolabi was killed by suspected “cult boys”. His body was recovered from the scene and deposited at a mortuary. NSCDC spokesman Tolu Afolabi confirmed the killing to reporters yesterday. He said investigation had begun into the incident to unmask the killers. The late Afolabi, who served in the Intelligence and Investigation Unit of Ekiti NSCDC, was reportedly shot in the heart. He is survived by a wife and a one-month-old baby. Kogi herbalist to die by hanging for killing 2 brothers A herbal medicine practitioner and ritualist, Ibrahim Mohammed, has been sentenced to death by hanging for killing two brothers in Koton-Karfe area of Kogi State. He was accused of killing two brothers, Muhammed Kudu Abubakar and Umar Tanko. The herbalist was said to have administered poison on them before hitting them on the head with a pestle and then buried their corpses in a shallow grave in his compound. The accused person had earlier pleaded guilty to the charges.
