Appeal Court sacks APC Lawmaker

The Court of Appeal sitting in Benin City has sacked the lawmaker representing Ovia South West Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Sunday Aghedo.
 It ordered Mr. Godwin Adenomo, a member of the All Progressive Congress, to be sworn in immediately.
 Adenomo had dragged the APC and the Committee that conducted the party primaries to court over imposition of the sacked lawmaker as the winner of the party primaries to the State House of Assembly in 2014.
He claimed he won the primaries but was denied the party’s ticket which was given to his opponent.
 A judgement of the High Court asked the APC to conduct a fresh primary for the position but Adenomo rejected the ruling and headed for the appellate court to get proper judgment.
Reacting to the judgment, the sacked lawmakers said he was already consulting with his lawyers.
His words, “I have no reaction. I am still consulting with my lawyers on what to do next.”

Former President, Mr Goodluck Jonathan has confirmed the theft of his property from his house in Abuja. He confirmed the incident in a statement by his spokesperson, Ikechukwu Eze, following some media reports that the home was stripped bare and some of the items stolen were being sold in markets. "The house, which the former President bought from CITEC estate developers in 2004, was totally stripped bare by the thieves who stole every movable item in the house including furniture sets, beds, electronics, toilet and electrical fittings, as well as all internal doors and frames." The Police has arrested a suspected gang Leader in Ogun State for impersonation and the murder of a middle aged motorboy after an altercation in Abeokuta, the state capital. Parading the suspect alongside other suspects at the state command of the Police, the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, said the suspect was a leader of a robbery gang allegedly terrorizing residents in many parts of the capital.  According to Mr Iliyasu, the suspect had brought an unregistered Sienna vehicle to one Alaja car wash, Leme Abeokuta and later on, got involved in an argument with a motorboy who was identified as Rasaq. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has set up a team to investigate the immediate past Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal. This was disclosed to DAILY POST by a source within the commission. The operative also confirmed that former Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Ayo Oke, would also be invited. An ex-senator, and two-time member of House of Representatives, Senator Mudasiru Hussein has stirred widespread controversy after he was nominated as Commissioner in Osun State. A  mild drama played out at the Plateau State orientation camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the Mangu area of the state as two newly sworn-in corps members were reportedly caught having sex inside a gutter. The randy corps members are among the many young graduates that were recently sworn in for the Batch A Stream 1 for the compulsory one year national service. According to multiple online reports, the incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday, May 30, 2017 when some camp soldiers on parade walked in on the duo in the middle of a heated sexcapade.
