Lagos – John Okafor,a Nollywood actor and comedian,who is considered to be one of Nigeria's most talented comic characters with his humorous acting often characterised by stupidity, hilarious imbecility and a sharp disconnection from reality,has decided to quit acting and venture fulltime into politics,according to Nigeria Times.
According to Mr Okafor,he has been left with no option but to join politics so that he gets in a position to change and adjust a number of aspects that have not been changed by what he termed as 'corrupt and 'useless' politicians that have ruined Nigeria's resources and human rights ever since he was born.
"If I was President, harmful military groups like Boko Haram wouldn't even exist,none of the girls would have been captured in the first place. Besides,the number of gays and lesbians in this country is growing daily and none of these issues have been addressed", fumed the former actor.
When the unusual news reached the ears of the ECG church leader Prophet Shepherd Bushiri,he scoffed and advised him to dump his decision and added that politics is no child's play.

TERRORIST LEADER SHEKAU An “alarming” number of children, most of them girls, have been used by Boko Haram as suicide bombers in the first months of 2017, UNICEF said Wednesday. The Islamists have increasingly been using children to attack crowded markets, mosques and camps for internally displaced people in northeast Nigeria and the broader Lake Chad region. Experts said the number of children used in suicide attacks by Boko Haram surged to 27 in the first quarter of this year, compared to nine over the same period in 2016. Since 2014, 117 children — the “vast majority” of them girls — have been used to carry out attacks in public places across Nigeria, Chad, Niger and Cameroon, said the report by the United Nations children’s agency UNICEF. PHOTO OF THE DECEASED BEEN TAKEN AWAY An Assistant Superintendent of Customs has allegedly committed suicide in Lungu Village, Gwarinpa, Abuja. The cause of the suicide was yet to be ascertained. Sources said the man, identified as Christian, 44, locked himself in a room and hung himself with a rope on Saturday. A source said the deceased, who was unmarried, was staying with his brother and was said to have been recently transferred to Lagos before the incident happened. The Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, said the brother whom the deceased stayed with was at a barber’s shop when the incident happened. He said the man was confirmed dead at the Kubwa General Hospital. “Exhibits recovered include some drugs and knife.” Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was suffering from depression.

Gunmen suspected to be militants on Thursday morning invaded Lagos State Model College, Igbo Nla, Epe, Lagos, abducting the principals and some students. The kidnappers were said to have stormed the school in the early hours when the students were at the morning assembly. The gunmen abducted the principal of the junior secondary school, Mr. Oyesola and Mr. Akirinmade who is the Principal of the senior secondary school. They also abducted some of the students. Presenting the case to the House of Representatives, the member representing Epe Constituency, Wale Raji, appealed to the House to call on the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State to treat the case with utmost urgency. Two people were killed and eight others were wounded May 7, 2017, in an attack near the site of a memorial where a man was slain earlier in the day in the Brighton Park neighborhood, police said. It happened in the 2600 block of West 46th Place, police said. The men and women gathered at a makeshift memorial Sunday, down the block from where a man in his 20s had been found shot to death between parked cars in the Southwest Side's Brighton Park neighborhood.
