NIGERIAN GOVT REACTS TO RECENT KILLING OF A NIGERIAN IN SOUTH AFRICA

The Nigerian government has reacted to the killing of a Nigerian identified as Rasak Alao in South Africa.

Recall that the Nigerian man, an auto mechanic, was on Thursday killed in South Africa after he was attacked alongside other Nigerians in Polokwane, Limpopo Province in South Africa.

 Reports indicated that the men were attacked following suspicions that they were into drug trafficking.

 Rasak Alao whose car was burnt lost his life in the attack which was carried out on him and five other Nigerians.


 In reaction, the Federal government issued a statement condemning the act and repeated attack on Nigerian nationals living in the country.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said it had so far, through painstaking investigations by its operatives, traced N47.2bn and $487.5m in cash and properties to a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke. These, the anti-graft agency said, were apart from "boxes of gold, silver and diamond jewellery, worth several million British pounds sterling," discovered during a search of Diezani's palatial residences in Abuja. The EFCC said it discovered several of Diezani's landed properties scattered all over Lagos and other parts of the country in the course of its investigations, adding that it was doubtful if the former minister declared her true assets as required of public officials. According to several media reports, Miss Olivia Uchechi Ihionu lost her life at Adoration Ministry Uke on 15 August 2017. The deceased was the first daughter of her parents. A fire incident which happened on Saturday evening at Makoko and Satellite Town areas of Lagos State, has left a seven-day-old baby dead, and copies of West African Senior School Certificate Examination results badly burnt. It was gathered that the baby was burnt to death in Makoko, in the fire incident that occurred due to a resident's carelessness, after she left what she was cooking on a stove unattended to.
