NIGERIAN GOVT REACTS TO RECENT KILLING OF A NIGERIAN IN SOUTH AFRICA

The Nigerian government has reacted to the killing of a Nigerian identified as Rasak Alao in South Africa.

Recall that the Nigerian man, an auto mechanic, was on Thursday killed in South Africa after he was attacked alongside other Nigerians in Polokwane, Limpopo Province in South Africa.

 Reports indicated that the men were attacked following suspicions that they were into drug trafficking.

 Rasak Alao whose car was burnt lost his life in the attack which was carried out on him and five other Nigerians.


 In reaction, the Federal government issued a statement condemning the act and repeated attack on Nigerian nationals living in the country.

NIGERIA'S POPULATION OUTGROWING NATION'S ECONOMY

The managing director of the International Monetary Fund, Christine Lagarde, has stated that the economy of some West African nations, including Nigeria, is not growing at the same rate as its population. She made this statement on Thursday while addressing the press at the ongoing International Monetary Fund annual meetings holding in Washington. She said, "Sub Saharan Africa (which Nigeria is part of one) is one region of the world where growth is way suboptimal. Those countries 2.5 percent. That is too low for the demographic expansion of the region. "There are different countries if we are to look Rwanda it is a different situation from that of Togo and Ghana is going to be different from Mozambique and so on. Two Seattle police officers were shot Thursday while responding to a robbery at a 7-Eleven, according to the city's police department. The two officers, one male and one female, were brought to the Harborview Medical Center. The hospital tweeted that the male officer was upgraded to serious but stable condition, and that the female officer remained in satisfactory condition.
