Ishaya Bamaiyi Is A Blatant Liar – Yemi Osinbajo’s Aide
Former Chief of Army Staff, Rtd General Ishaya Bamaiya, has been called a blatant liar by the media unit in Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s office.
Bamaiyi was Chief of Army Staff during the reign of military dictator, Sani Abacha.
Excerpts of Bamaiyi’s memoir, titled, ‘The vindication of a General’, have been flooding the media space in the last couple of weeks.
In the latest excerpts, Bamaiyi accused VP Osinbajo of acting in concert with Justice Ade Alabi and the Lagos State Police Commissioner at the time, to convict him at all costs within six months.
Bamaiyi was alleged to have been involved in the attempted assassination on the life of Guardian Publisher Alex Ibru in Lagos in 1996.
Ibru survived the assassination attempt on his life.
Bamaiyi spent eight years behind prison walls on account of his alleged murderous roles in concert with Rtd General Hamza Al-Mustapha and Sergeant Rogers, during the Abacha era.
Osinbajo was Lagos Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice at the time of Bamaiyi’s trial in 1999.
According to Bamaiyi, Justice Alabi demanded a N10M bribe from him to grant his bail application, which was pending before the judge.
