MAN ON TRIAL FOR CUTTING OFF NEIGHBORS NOSE

A 41 year- old man, Uche Odinaka has been arraigned before an Asaba Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday for allegedly cutting off his neighbour’s nose.

 The prosecutor, Mrs Ekugbe Biokoro, told the court that the accused committed the offence on the May 7, 2017 at No 5 Obi street, Asaba.

 She said Odinaka assaulted his neighbour, one Uche Ukwuraivwe and used a machete to cut the complainant’s nose during a scuffle.

 Biokoro said that the offence was punishable under Section 355 of Criminal Code,Cap C21 Vol 1 Laws of Delta State of Nigeria 2006.

 The accused, however, pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N120,000 and a surety in like sum.

 The Magistrate, Mrs Okonkwo Akanume, ordered that the surety must be a civil servant residing within the jurisdiction of the court, own a landed property in Asaba and should deposit two passport photographs with the court.

 Akanume adjourned the case till May 30, for definite hearing.

The Edo Woman Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aisosa Amadasun, and four others, have been brought before a Benin High Court, for allegedly committing contract fraud to the tune of N1.5bn, NAN reports. SAPULPA, Okla. - Police say an elementary school teacher was arrested on multiple charges after accidentally leaving her Facebook page open on a school computer. Officers were called to Holmes Park Elementary School on Monday after a teacher found Megan Sloan's Facebook page open on a computer, according to KOKI-TV. Authorities say the page featured a conversation where Sloan reportedly asked about using and selling heroin. Detectives told KOKI that during the investigation, Sloan allegedly admitted to pawning two iPads that belonged to the school district. She also reportedly admitted to using money from field trips for gas and drugs. When officers searched Sloan's purse, they allegedly found syringes and substances that tested positive for meth and heroin. A herdsman carrying gun Eight persons were feared dead following an attack by suspected herdsmen, on two villages in Logo Local Government Area of Benue state, a Police statement said. The Spokesman of the Police Command in Benue, ASP Moses Yamu, confirmed the attacks in a statement on Monday in Makurdi. Yamu said the attacks on Akaa and Tse-Orlalu villages in Mbamar, Ugondo communities, were perpetrated by suspected herdsmen late on Sunday. He said that the police had yet to establish the motive for the attack and that adequate personnel had been drafted to the villages to restore normalcy. He said the attackers invaded the villages, killed eight people and injured many others.
