RAPE ;14 YEAR OLD ARRESTED FOR DEFILING NEIGHBOURS 7 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE TOILET

A 14-year-old secondary school student is facing trial at an Ikeja chief magistrate’s court over the defilement of his neighbour’s seven-year-old daughter. 

The accused, who resides with his parents in Bariga, Lagos, according to police prosecutor, Raphael Donny, broke into the toilet where the girl was easing herself, and defiled her. He said the accused committed the offence in December 2016, noting “it was the cry of the girl that alerted the mother, who immediately rushed to the scene. 

“When the mother saw blood stains on the child’s clothes, she shouted and efforts to apprehend the boy were unsuccessful as he ran away from the house. The case was reported at the police station, while the boy was later sighted in Agege and arrested by the police.” The accused, however, denied the charge. 

Chief Magistrate D. Abegunde admitted the accused to N300,000 bail with two sureties in like sum. Abegunde, however, ordered the accused remanded in the Boys Correctional Centre, Oregun, Ikeja, until when the bail condition is met. 

Before adjourning the case till June 5, she directed that the case file be duplicated and a copy sent to the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP, for advice.

KOGI GOVERNOR SEEKS ASSEMBLY'S APPROVAL FOR N11 BN SUPPLEMENTARY BUDGET

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state, in a letter to the State House of Assembly, is seeking the approval of a supplementary budget of N11 billion for the 2017 fiscal year. The governor said the budget would take care of certain areas of economic development that were not previously captured.(Kogi state has not recorded any singular form of development since the present government came into existence) Bello stated that the budget would enable his administration to continue to execute its projects and programmes.(EFCC please note) The governor said it will also address security issues and other obvious sectors' challenges that are within and outside the current approved budget. After reading the letter to the House, Speaker Ahmed Imam directed the Majority Leader, Mathew Kolawole to slate it on the order paper for consideration at the next legislative day. POLICE DECLARE SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBER WANTED IN CONNECTION WITH POLICE SHOOTING

The Imo State Police Command has declared a suspected armed robber, Ekene Amadi, wanted for allegedly shooting a police Inspector, Oliver Nwaba. According to a statement issued by police spokesperson in the state, Andrew Enwerem, the officer was shot during an attack by Amadi's gang on policemen at Nipping Point at Nkaraha Junction, along Owerri-Port Harcourt Road.
