The police in Ghana have arrested about four people who allegedly murdered and lynched a soldier in Ghana after mistaking him for an armed robber. 

Four out of the five prime suspects have been arrested in connection with the lynching of a Captain of the Ghana Army have been sent to the Central Regional Police Headquarters in Cape Coast.

According to Adom News, the fifth suspect who sustained bullet wounds during a struggle with the lynched Captain Maxwell Mahama is also at the hospital. 


They were paraded before the media by the police at the Regional Headquarters of the Police in Cape Coast as part of the investigations

POLICE INTERCEPT TWO VEHICLES CARRYING ARMS

The Zamfara State Police Command on Wednesday intercepted two vehicles carrying arms in different parts of the state. The spokesman of the command, Muhammad Shehu, confirmed the development in Gusau. He told the News Agency of Nigeria that items recovered from the vehicles were three AK47 riffles, an automatic pistol, locally-made pistol, magazines and live ammunitions. According to him, other items recovered include N103, 435 cash, ATM card, three voters’ cards, military camouflage and a stamp of the Cattle Traders Association of Nigeria in the Bukuru Local Government Area of Plateau. DETECTIVES of Delta State Police Command investigating the September 5 ambush of bank officials and policemen on the Benin-Asaba Expressway by bandits, who carted away N25 million from a bullion van, have apprehended and detained an Inspector and three other policemen, said to be on illegal escort duty. The meeting of the Federal Executive Council that holds every Wednesday did not hold yesterday. Yesterday would have afforded President Muhammadu Buhari who returned to the country on Saturday the opportunity of presiding over the council meeting for the first time in over three months. The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, disclosed in a statement that the meeting would not hold. Adesina did not however disclose the reason behind the decision to cancel the meeting. GUNMEN KILL MONARCH IN THE MIDST OF MEETING WITH CHIEFS

Suspected gunmen have killed the paramount ruler of Orokpor village in Rumueme Community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Charles Miniku. It was gathered that Miniku was assassinated on Friday night during a meeting with other chiefs in the area inside the village hall. SUNDAY PUNCH learnt that the development caused panic in the area as several buildings were set ablaze.
