Why Obasanjo forcefully retired me from police – Oba Akiolu  January 31, 2017 The Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has claimed that former president Olusegun Obasanjo forcefully retired him from the Nigerian Police Force IN 2002, so the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could win the 2003 elections in Lagos State. He claimed that Atiku Abubakar and Lawal Daura convinced Obasanjo to remove him, because the Police Service Commission (PSC) “is a toothless bull-dog.” Akiolu made these statements at a stakeholders’ meeting held in Victoria Island, Lagos on Monday. He said in part: “Atiku, Daura and others sat down and advised President Obasanjo that if he wanted to win Lagos in 2003, I should be removed. It was written on paper.” The monarch said Obasanjo “did not know anything about it. He had to send for the Inspector-General of Police (IG) because the then Chief of Staff challenged the plan to retire me. “For someone to sit at the PSC and determine who retires fro...

Naira rate worsens to the dollar  January 31, 2017 The naira dropped against the United States dollar from 498 to 500 at the parallel market during the early trading hours on Monday. The currency thus crossed the critical threshold analysts had predicted. At the official market, the local unit closed at 305/dollar, the level it has traded at since August last year. The CBN had two weeks ago commenced sales of dollars to the BDC operators through Travelex, following a three-week break during the Christmas and New Year celebrations. On Friday, the naira closed at 498/dollar at the black market, broadly unchanged from 497/dollar it recorded the previous weekend. “Confidence is gradually returning to the forex market as a result of improved foreign exchange reserves, dollar sales by international money transfer agents and the central bank assurance it will continue to support the local currency,” one trader told Reuters. Last Tuesday, the CBN said it ...

The Rumor Of Hope   A daily devotion for January 30th   From your friends at  RayStedman.org     Read: Mark 16:1-8       Don't be alarmed,  he said.  You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. EMEKA UGWUONYE + DUE PROCESS ADVOCATES(DPA) MY PROBLEM ...... .... was not that some people placed their money in the MMM scheme. I reallvy cannot blame any Nigerian that did that. The banking system failed on all levels. The government failed. The people were frustrated as they lived in a country characterized by massive failures. MMM or anything whatsoever that promises an alternative is worth considering. So, it is really not the fault of the people that they went into MMM. Nobody should blame them that much and I am sure that has not been my purpose. My problem is not that they put their money there. My problem is that when we decided to discuss the matter in this platform, which we created for such public debate; when we decided to discuss it, many of the people in MMM attacked me. They got rude and attacked me and everybody else in the most vicious way possible. That is our problem. For behaving that way, we saw for the first time, the beasts in some of those involved....

This was due to the below par performance and mass looting of our commonwealth by the directionless government of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State and his failed team.
