BARACK OBAMA 'ROLLED HIS EYES' AT DONALD TRUMP TWEETS ACCUSING HIM OF WIRETAPPING
Barack Obama 'rolled his eyes' at Donald Trump tweets accusing him of wiretapping
MARCH 9TH 2017,
Barack Obama reportedly "rolled his eyes" in exasperation when he learned about President Donald Trump's tweets accusing him of wiretapping.
His reaction marked a new low in relations between the two men who have not spoken since Inauguration Day on Jan 20.
Several versions of Mr Obama's response to the unprecedented allegation emerged from different sources, ranging from "irked" to "livid".
Mr Trump made the allegation that his successor bugged Trump Tower in New York during the election in a series of tweets early on Saturday morning.
One source close to Mr Obama told NBC News the reaction from the former president was an "eye roll".
Mr Obama was said to believed his successor's claims "undermine the integrity of the office of the president".
However, the former president did not believe his own integrity had been undermined by the controversy because he "didn't do it".
Mr Obama was said to be more concerned about the repeal of Obamacare rather than "what President Trump tweets at the TV each morning".
Another person close to the former president told CNN he felt "irked and exasperated," while another told the Wall Street Journal he was "livid".
Christopher Ruddy, a donor to Mr Trump's campaign who spoke to him at the weekend, said advisers to Mr Trump now believe they are "at war" with Mr Obama.
The feeling stems from a belief that officials in the US government who were appointed under Mr Obama have been leaking information with the intention of undermining Mr Trump's fledgling presidency.
Mr Trump had previously indicated that he believed Mr Obama "liked" him and that he intended to seek his advice, but his attitude towards his predecessor appeared to have toughened significantly.
