Pandemonium as Custom officers allegedly kill rice smuggler in Ogun

Operatives of the Nigerian Customs Service, NCS, on Wednesday allegedly shot dead a rice smuggler along Siun-Sagamu in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The deceased smuggler was said to be running away from Customs operatives.
It was learnt that the smuggler was chased to a location around Kobape area of the road where he was reportedly killed.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said, “The area commanders of Sagamu and Abeokuta, the Divisional Police Officer, Owode-Egba and other police officers are now on the ground to maintain peace and order.”

DETECTIVES of Delta State Police Command investigating the September 5 ambush of bank officials and policemen on the Benin-Asaba Expressway by bandits, who carted away N25 million from a bullion van, have apprehended and detained an Inspector and three other policemen, said to be on illegal escort duty. Police Public Relations Officer of Delta Command, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed the arrest and detention of the policemen to Vanguard in Asaba, said Police have released two officials of the bank earlier arrested, while investigations were ongoing. MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Authorities are investigating an early morning homicide just off of Stateline Road. Initial reports indicated the 20-year-old victim was inside a car at the Ashland Lakes Apartments around 3 a.m. when he was shot. Two individuals rushed him to the Olive Branch Methodist Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The driver and passenger were detained for questioning by Olive Branch. She’ll get credit for time served, so she can move to the mental health facility in about two months. Her record will be sealed and expunged when she reaches adulthood. *Police were called to Piccadilly bus station after a suitcase was found on the 192 bus and a man reportedly ran from the scene A suitcase has been left on a bus at Piccadilly bus station sparking a security alert. Police were called to Portland Street after the suitcase was found on the 192 bus at 11.35am. Greater Manchester Police officers are on their way to the scene to investigate. It's understood a man got onto the Stagecoach bus and dropped the suitcase in the middle aisle. He then reportedly ran off the bus service, which was travelling from the city centre to Stockport.
