The governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson and the ex-governor of Delta state, James Ibori have resolved to jointly mobilize and employ the resources at their disposal towards tackling security issues plaguing the Niger-Delta region.
This was made known in a statement signed and issued by Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the Chief Press Secretary to Dickson, following a closed-door meeting between the two regional leaders which held at Oghara, Delta state residence of Ibori on Thursday.

According to the statement, the two leaders will play major roles in rallying key stakeholders towards tackling some of the several challenges affecting the development of the region.

They will also work to create windows of opportunities for the teeming youths in the region to be gainfully engaged in the protection and preservation of critical assets of the country situated in the region.

Governor Dickson and his entourage also met with his Delta state counterpart, Ifeanyi Okowa, to discuss other critical issues of mutual interest to their respective states.

A young teenage couple accused of snatching their newborn baby from hospital have been briefly reunited with their daughter after five days apart. Jayden Lavender, 14, and fiancée Jenifer Morrison, 15, smuggled three-day-old Aria out of the hospital in Sydney at 12.30am on Thursday. Their disappearance sparked a huge search before the pair were found safe and well 16 hours later after spending a night camping with the infant. The teens were briefly reunited with their baby girl on Tuesday amid the family's fears they would never see her again. 2 TERRORIST COMMANDERS SURRENDER SELVES TO POLICE

The Borno State Police Command said on Wednesday that as a result of "Operation Safe Corridor," the counter-terrorism effort of the Nigerian military, two high profile commanders of the Boko Haram militant group have surrendered, along with their families. In a statement to newsmen in Maiduguri by its public relations officer, DSP Victor Isuku, the command said that 13 civilians were also rescued from suspected kidnappers, with two of the hoodlums dying of injuries received in a gun battle with the police. Two AK-47 rifles were also recovered. "The 13 rescued victims were formally handed over to the His Excellency, Alhaji Mamman Durkwa, Deputy Governor of Borno state, today at the Government House," the spokesman said. Unknown Gunmen Kill University Student, Watchman In Jigawa. 17th Feb 2017, A 27-year-old university student, Muhammad Garzali, was killed by unidentified assailants at Kafinhausa town of Kafinhausa Local Government Area of Jigawa. Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Abdu Jinjiri, an ASP, said that Garzali was murdered alongside a 60-year-old watchman, Ali Dan-Katsina, at a motor park in the area.
