The governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson and the ex-governor of Delta state, James Ibori have resolved to jointly mobilize and employ the resources at their disposal towards tackling security issues plaguing the Niger-Delta region.
This was made known in a statement signed and issued by Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the Chief Press Secretary to Dickson, following a closed-door meeting between the two regional leaders which held at Oghara, Delta state residence of Ibori on Thursday.

According to the statement, the two leaders will play major roles in rallying key stakeholders towards tackling some of the several challenges affecting the development of the region.

They will also work to create windows of opportunities for the teeming youths in the region to be gainfully engaged in the protection and preservation of critical assets of the country situated in the region.

Governor Dickson and his entourage also met with his Delta state counterpart, Ifeanyi Okowa, to discuss other critical issues of mutual interest to their respective states.

*Police were called to Piccadilly bus station after a suitcase was found on the 192 bus and a man reportedly ran from the scene A suitcase has been left on a bus at Piccadilly bus station sparking a security alert. Police were called to Portland Street after the suitcase was found on the 192 bus at 11.35am. Greater Manchester Police officers are on their way to the scene to investigate. It's understood a man got onto the Stagecoach bus and dropped the suitcase in the middle aisle. He then reportedly ran off the bus service, which was travelling from the city centre to Stockport. An attempt by a mother of two children to smuggle a phone to her boyfriend in prison custody has been foiled by the officials of the Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The 33-year-old woman, Fatima Balogun who has been arrested by men of the Special Intelligence Unit of the NPS, carried out the action on Wednesday at the gate lodge of Abeokuta maximum Prisons in Ibara. The suspect confessed that she hid the phone which she bought for her boyfriend identified as Ganiyu Ajibode, in the cooler of soup from the Prisons officials. Balogun said she was a divorcee with two children before she met Ganiyu about two years back.   Civil rights activist the Rev. Jesse Jackson said Friday that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. A neurological disorder with no cure, Parkinson's can cause tremors, stiffness and difficulty balancing, walking and coordinating movement.   "My family and I began to notice changes about three years ago," Jackson wrote in a statement. "After a battery of tests, my physicians identified the issue as Parkinson's disease, a disease that bested my father." Two Fulani herdsmen, Umar and Musa Ali, who are brothers, have been arrested by men of the Nasarawa State Police Command for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl at Tudun Lambaga in the Eggon Hills area, Eggon Local Government Area of the state. The victim, simply identified as Esther, was reportedly ambushed and assaulted by the suspects at a secluded part of the road.
