The governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson and the ex-governor of Delta state, James Ibori have resolved to jointly mobilize and employ the resources at their disposal towards tackling security issues plaguing the Niger-Delta region.
This was made known in a statement signed and issued by Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the Chief Press Secretary to Dickson, following a closed-door meeting between the two regional leaders which held at Oghara, Delta state residence of Ibori on Thursday.

According to the statement, the two leaders will play major roles in rallying key stakeholders towards tackling some of the several challenges affecting the development of the region.

They will also work to create windows of opportunities for the teeming youths in the region to be gainfully engaged in the protection and preservation of critical assets of the country situated in the region.

Governor Dickson and his entourage also met with his Delta state counterpart, Ifeanyi Okowa, to discuss other critical issues of mutual interest to their respective states.

Man allegedly chops off pregnant woman’s hand A man, who was engaged in a fight with his neighbour in Isaba-Ekiti, allegedly chopped off the left wrist of a pregnant woman, Aisha Adam, with a cutlass. A News Agency of Nigeria correspondent, who visited the pregnant woman and mother of four on her hospital bed on Monday, reports that the left hand of the victim was cut off from the wrist. Suspected Boko Haram Members Kill 10-Year-Old Boy February 16, 2017 Policemen attached to the Inspector- General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris’ Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT), have arrested suspected Boko Haram members, who abducted a 10-year-old boy in Maiduguri, Borno State and later stabbed him to death. The victim, Baa Goni Maina, was abducted on January 14 by 18-year-old Adam Bakura and his brother, Modu Bakura. He was killed three days later after his father couldn’t cough up the N10 million ransom the brothers demanded. It was learnt that although Maina’s father was comfortable, he was not rich enough to have N10 million. The suspect and deceased lived in the same community. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) on Tuesday paraded a 17-year-old Boko Haram suspect, who admitted killing 18 people since he joined the group three years ago.  The suspect, Ali Mustafa, said he was forced to join the deadly group when Boko Haram terrorists attacked his village in Monguno and left with many boys. A nurse has become the first in a wheelchair to work on the frontline of the NHS.Michelle Quested, 33, lost the use of her legs in a car accident seven years ago. But the dedicated nurse was determined not to let her disability get in the way of her clinical work at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. The suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), David Babachir Lawal, on Tuesday appeared before the Yemi Osinbajo-led panel, where he answered questions over the alleged violations of due process in the award of contracts under the Presidential Initiative on the North East (PINE). Lawal arrived the Presidential Villa around 1pm and was ushered before the Vice President. He left at 3.35pm. The panel had on Monday grilled the suspended Director-General of the National Inteligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ayo Oke. Oke was suspended over the recovery of $43million from a Lagos apartment, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
