SUSPENDED SGF LAWAL BABACHIR APPEARED BEFORE OSINBAJO LED PANEL

The suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), David Babachir Lawal, on Tuesday appeared before the Yemi Osinbajo-led panel, where he answered questions over the alleged violations of due process in the award of contracts under the Presidential Initiative on the North East (PINE).

 Lawal arrived the Presidential Villa around 1pm and was ushered before the Vice President. He left at 3.35pm.

 The panel had on Monday grilled the suspended Director-General of the National Inteligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ayo Oke.

 Oke was suspended over the recovery of $43million from a Lagos apartment, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

 The panel went through documents and quizzed some officials during the 11-hour sesssion that began at 10am.

 The suspended NIA DG told the committee, that he wrote a memo to the National Security Adviser (NSA) on the $43,million for covert operations.

 He also insisted he informed the NSA, Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno, who is a member of the committee, about the money.

 The three-man committee, which was set up by President Muhammadu Buhari last Wednesday, has 14 days to complete their investigations and submit their reports.

​The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has today revealed the location of the ark of Noah which every archeologist has been looking for over the years. According to the Ooni, the ark is in Ile-Ife and it is there because ‘everything started in Africa’. A severely anorexic 15-year-old girl stepped in front of a train five days after being released from a psychiatric hospital, an inquest heard. Pippa ‘Pip’ McManus died at Gatley railway station after a family argument about her excessive gym use which ended with her running from her home shouting ‘I am going to kill myself now’. South Manchester assistant coroner Andrew Bridgman told jury members they would have to consider the risks to Pip of her release from the Priory Hospital, in Altrincham, and if that release had been properly managed. I prefer to remain in prison as maid rejects freedom in court Feb 22nd 2017,          A 26-year-old house maid, Mary Atte, arrested and charged before Isolo Magistrate's court and remanded in prison for stealing her boss' N2m,  has refused to leave prison, Pmexpress reports. .   She reportedly said she preferred to stay there in good faith, insisting that the prison condition was far better for her than when she was outside and would continue to remain there for her comfort. CALIFORNIA DAD OF MISSING 5 YEAR OLD RELEASED FROM JAIL

LOS ANGELES –  A missing 5-year-old boy's father has been released from jail in an unexpected twist that only deepens the mystery behind the boy's disappearance. Investigators on Tuesday decided against presenting the case to prosecutors and moving forward with charges against Aramazd Andressian Sr., who was found unconscious Saturday at a South Pasadena park. His son, Armazd Andressian Jr., was nowhere to be found and remains missing four days later. Andressian Sr. was arrested later Saturday on suspicion of child endangerment and abduction and was being held on $10 million bail before his release Tuesday. Authorities would say only that the investigation was continuing, and would not say whether the father remains a suspect. On Tuesday authorities searched Cachuma Lake in Santa Barbara County, but now don't believe the boy was there.

GAY MARRIAGE;53 ATTENDEES OF A GAY MARRIAGE IN KADUNA ARRESTED

Police, yesterday, arraigned 53 persons, who were allegedly arrested during a gay marriage, before a magistrate’s court in Chediya-Zaria, Kaduna State. The prosecutor, Mannir Nasir, said the accused were arrested on April 15 at a motel and were being charged for conspiracy, unlawful assembly and belonging to a gang of unlawful society. He said the offences contravened Sections 97, 100 and 197(a) of Criminal Procedure Code, CPC. According to Nasir, “on April 15, at about 9p.m., a team of policemen, led by DSP Muhammad Lawal-Mashi, arrested and brought to the police station 53 persons.” The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges, and their counsel, Yunusa Umar, asked the court to release them on bail in line with sections 35 (4) and 36 (5) of the Constitution.
