Emeka Ojukwu Jr., a legal practitioner and son of Igbo leader, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, has said that the only thing he holds against Nnamdi Kanu's agitation for the actualization of Biafra, is "their methodology". Speaking to Punch, Ojukwu Jr., admitted that the agitation by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) led by Kanu and The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), was "valid". Nigeria's D'Tigress have emerged champions of the 2017 FIBA Women's Afrobasket. D'Tigress won the title on Sunday evening after defeating strong rivals Senegal 65-48 in the final. COP WHO AIDED ESCAPE OF RITUAL KILLER SEEN CRYING AFTER SACK

The Rivers State Police Command has dismissed Police Sergeant, Johnbosco Okoroeze, for allegedly helping suspected ritual killer, Ifeanyi Dike, escape from the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Port Harcourt. Okoroeze was also arraigned before a chief magistrate's court on two counts of obstruction of justice and conspiracy. No bail was granted to him, he remains in police custody for the alleged offences. Chief Magistrate, Sokari Andrew-Jaja, cautioned the dismissed Sergeant as he cried uncontrollably inside the court. The prime suspect, Ifeanyi Dike raped, killed and removed the organs of 8 year old Victory Nmezuwuba, before he was arrested and taken to the SCIID. Okoroeze, who was the Investigating Police Officer, said he temporarily removed Dike's handcuffs while he took his statement, but that Dike escaped from his custody in the covers of the dark. A gang of notorious internet fraudsters have been apprehended in Imo state after they reportedly duped people of millions of naira. A female internet fraudster and her gang members have been arrested by men of the Imo state Police command. The three suspects were arrested for using fake Facebook account alleged to be used to impersonate the Chief of Staff to Imo state Governor, Chief Uche Nwosu to dupe innocent victims to the tune of N70 million. Pietermaritzburg - The fifth suspect in the "cannibalism" case appeared briefly at the Estcourt Magistrate's Court on Wednesday afternoon, a court official said on Thursday. Khayelihle Lamula, 32, of Esigodlweni area in Estcourt, faces a charge of conspiracy to commit murder and a murder charge. IRAN ALLEGEDLY BANS UGLY TEACHERS AND FEMALES WITH FACIAL HAIR FROM CLASSROOM

Iran's education department has banned ugly teachers from the classroom, including women with facial hair or those suffering from acne. A list of proscribed ailments, including having a scar or a fungal infection was released by the FARS news agency. Anyone who is cross-eyed, has ugly facial moles or skin conditions such as acne or eczema faces redundancy. Women who have facial hair will also be sacked, along with teachers with fewer than 20 teeth or those suffering a fungal infection. Women are allowed to teach in Iran although they must wear a scarf covering their hair. Art teachers will be sacked if they report they are colourblind and infertile female teachers will also be banned from the classroom. A jilted lover chopped off a 15-year-old schoolgirl's hand with a sword at a busy Indian market in broad daylight. The attack took place at the Lakhimpur Kheri market, in India, when the victim was shopping with her younger brother. The girl was immediately rushed to a private hospital where doctors are trying to stitch her dismembered hand back on. Vinod Chaurasia, 19, is accused of attacking her and is alleged to have been stalking the girl for past few months. A restaurateur in New York City has reportedly apologized for — and fired — an employee who wrote "Ching Chong" on an Asian woman's receipt in place of her name. Ziggy Chau, a friend of the woman's daughter, first posted a photo of the receipt to Facebook last week, decrying the "racist staff" and urging the Facebook community to boycott the establishment. The Rivers state deputy governor, Dr Ipalibo Banigo, in a statement on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, asked the Police and other law enforcement agen­cies to ensure that the suspect is re-arrested and brought to justice without delay. She stressed that the report that the suspect es­caped from the hands of the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) is "totally unaccept­able and very embarrass­ing." Banigo who condoled with the bereaved family on the gruesome murder of their daughter, said that "as a mother, I am still numb with shock to hear that a man could defile an eight-year-old girl and go ahead to mutilate her body for purported money rituals."

A 72-years-old woman, Madam Victoria, yesterday narrated her experience in the hands of suspected Fulani herdsmen, who took turn to rape her in her farm in Ore in Odigbo LGA of Ondo State. A youth group under the auspices of Ondo State Youth Coalition (OSYC) and farmers yesterday converged on Akure, the state capital, to protest the rape of Victoria and Madam Ebun in Ore. ISIS BEHEADS 11 IN LIBYA

At least 11 people have been beheaded in southern Libya following an attack apparently carried out by the Islamic State militant group (ISIS). Nine fighters loyal to the Libyan National Army (LNA), the force aligned with Libya's eastern government, and two civilians were executed following an assault on a checkpoint 300 miles south of the Libyan capital, Tripoli, in Jufra. No group has claimed responsibility for the killings, but according to Agence France-Presse, LNA spokesman Colonel Ahmed al-Mesmari, ISIS carried out the gruesome attack. The onslaught against the LNA forces, under the command of Gaddafi-era General Khalifa Haftar, comes as Libyan military sources warn ISIS is regrouping following catastrophic defeats in December 2016. The meeting of the Federal Executive Council that holds every Wednesday did not hold yesterday. Yesterday would have afforded President Muhammadu Buhari who returned to the country on Saturday the opportunity of presiding over the council meeting for the first time in over three months. The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, disclosed in a statement that the meeting would not hold. Adesina did not however disclose the reason behind the decision to cancel the meeting. SERAP had sent the petition, stating that the funds were squandered by the former presidents. Timothy Adewale, SERAP deputy director, confirmed this in a statement issued on Wednesday. He said it received a letter from the court, with regards to the petition. "SERAP can confirm that the ICC is now considering our petition. We have received communication from Mark P. Dillon, head of information and evidence unit of the ICC indicating that the court will give due consideration to our petition," the statement read. Members of Boko Haram Boko Haram insurgents have killed six men in a village in northeast Nigeria on Tuesday in what appeared to be a targeted reprisal attack. A militia fighting the group said nine Boko Haram fighters allegedly entered Kijimatari, a village in north-east Borno state, at around 2 am (0100 GMT), breaking into the homes of six men including the village chief before slitting their throats. "The attackers evaded a nearby military checkpoint by entering the village through bush paths," said Ibrahim Liman, the head of a local anti-jihadist militia force. "The chief of the village was among the victims and it was clear the victims were deliberately targeted."
