Wealthy musician Charles Kanyi, popularly known as Jaguar, has made the hold switch from music and entrepreneurship to politics.

Jaguar, who is known for hits such as Kigeugeu and Take it slow, already has an elective post in mind-the Starehe Parliamentary seat.
He made the announcement of his desire to square it out with other politicians on Friday, March 10, after reportedly spending most of the day campaigning in the Nairobi CBD.

Back in January, the renown artist sparked controversy when he resigned from his lucrative post as the NACADA director. At the time ,Jaguar cited ‘personal reasons’ as the major player in his decision.
It was then rumored that he had some political interests, hence his fall-out with the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse- a position he was handed to him by the President.

In late 2016, The singer has been appointed as the Water Ambassador by the Ministry of Water and Irrigation. The appointment was announced at a ceremony in KICC by Cabinet Secretary Eugene Walmwa.
Jaguar is also believed to be close friends with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
For the Starehe MP seat, he is set to square it out with another political newbie Boniface Mwangi, Nairobi businessman Steve Mboya.
